The CAE Indigenous Relations Lead plays a pivotal role in enabling CAE Defense & Security Canada to deliver its Indigenous relations goals. This includes fostering business liaisons with Indigenous Governments Communities and organizations fulfilling our Indigenous Participation Plan (IPP) and Partnership Accreditation in Indigenous Relations (PAIR) commitments and meeting business objectives for Indigenous recruitment and retention. Additionally the role involves engaging Indigenous Governments Communities and organizations enhancing internal awareness of Indigenous cultures histories and issues and collaborating with SkyAlyne and internal teams to ensure alignment with overall business strategies. Success in this role will be measured by the achievement of key performance metrics related to Indigenous engagement and participation.
The role we are offering you:
Execute the Indigenous relationship strategy for CAE Defense & Security Canada including maintaining and improving existing partnerships and developing new strategic partnerships.
Establish lead and manage all the Indigenous Participation Plan commitments (Recruitment & Skills development) and obligations for CAE Defense and Security Canada programs including the Future Aircrew Training (FAcT).
Provide recommendations and review solution with D&S Canada Indigenous Participation Leads of various bids to ensure a successful and compliant IP plan.
Develop and sustain strong respectful relationships with Indigenous Governments leadership and Communities serving as the primary liaison to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.
Organize and lead in collaboration with the DE&I Leader the Indigenous Advisory board
Actively participate as a leading member of CAEs Indigenous Employee Resource Group FIRE
Be a key influence in achieving and maintaining Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR) certifications ensuring compliance with all standards and continuous improvement in Indigenous relations.
Develop and deliver training programs to enhance internal awareness and understanding of Indigenous cultures histories and issues
Ensure all activities comply with relevant regulations and standards including those specific to Indigenous relations and participation.
Prepare regular reports and documentation on Indigenous relations activities progress and outcomes for internal and external stakeholders.
Address and resolve any conflicts or issues that arise in the course of Indigenous engagement activities ensuring respectful and effective communication.
Our ideal candidate has:
Indepth knowledge of the history and presentday context of Indigenous Peoples in Saskatchewan Manitoba and other jurisdictions in Canada including governments and organizations.
An undergraduate degree in Indigenous studies social sciences public administration or a related field.
Demonstrated experience working with Indigenous communities with a deep understanding of Indigenous cultures histories and issues.
Minimum of 8 years working with or for Indigenous communities
Handson expertise as a subject matter expert in advising stakeholders on Indigenous requirements best practices and opportunities
Proven experience in establishing building and maintaining relationships with Indigenous Nations and communities
Experience negotiating agreements for capacity traditional knowledge studies accommodation and potential partnership between organizations and Indigenous communities
Strong facilitative negotiation influencing written communication and presentation skills.
Good judgement ability to deal with complex and sensitive issues and communicate and collaborate effectively.
High level of integrity and personal accountability
Experience in the aviation industry is an asset
Experience working in a crossfunctional and dynamic team is considered an asset
Willingness to travel within Canada
Performs other related duties as required
