Your Role as Senior Electrical Designer
Reporting to the Manager of Power Systems Engineering Services you are responsible for a variety of basic engineering work activities which includes drafting and designing electrical protection & control and instrumentation systems developing wiring and schematic drawings scope of work documents bill of material documents capital cost estimates and document control activities.
Your Key Accountabilities
- Assist with electrical design projects from initiation to completion including project planning scheduling budgeting and resource allocation.
- Assist with developing comprehensive project plans timelines and budgets for electrical design tasks ensuring alignment with overall project goals and client expectations.
- Track project progress against established milestones and deliverables identifying any deviations or risks and implementing corrective actions as needed to keep projects on track.
- Develop and design electrical systems and components for various projects ensuring compliance with industry standards codes and regulations.
- Lead the electrical design process from concept through to completion including schematic design layout and detailed drawings.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate electrical designs with other building systems such as mechanical structural and automation.
- Conduct thorough analysis and calculations to ensure the functionality reliability and efficiency of electrical systems.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior designers and engineers mentoring them in best practices and industry standards.
- Review and evaluate electrical designs to identify potential risks issues or conflicts and propose solutions or modifications as necessary.
- Coordinate with external vendors contractors and consultants to specify electrical equipment and materials and ensure compatibility with project requirements.
- Participate in project meetings presentations and discussions to communicate progress updates and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Conduct site visits and inspections as needed to assess existing conditions troubleshoot problems system commissioning and verify compliance with design specifications.
- Stay current with advancements in electrical design technology tools and techniques and integrate them into project workflows to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical design and engineering with a focus on industrial projects.
- Proficiency in computeraided design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD Microstation or similar tools for electrical system layout and drafting.
- Strong knowledge of electrical design principles practices and standards including NEC NFPA IEEE and local building codes.
- Experience with electrical load calculations power distribution systems lighting design lowvoltage systems equipment controls and instrumentation.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing electrical systems for industrial applications.
- Proven ability to lead and manage small to mediumsized electrical design projects including project planning budgeting scheduling and resource management.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Strong problemsolving and analytical skills with the ability to identify issues evaluate alternatives and propose sound solutions.
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and staying abreast of industry trends technologies and best practices.
- Strong attention to detail accuracy and quality in all aspects of work with a focus on delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively in a teamoriented environment.
- Valid drivers license with access to a personal vehicle is required.
- Willingness to travel and to go on site on occasion.
