Description

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated parttime 15 hours/week) Program Coordinator to help lead a regional collaborative that seeks to increase access to healthy affordable food and opportunities for active living. The Mass in Motion Municipal Wellness and Leadership Program (Mass in Motion) an initiative of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health is a statewide movement to lower the risk of chronic disease by addressing the root causes of inequitable conditions through policy systems and environmental (PSE) change strategies.


Bay State Community Services serves as the grant manager with BSCS staff providing backbone support to participating municipal partners including Quincy Milton Randolph and Weymouth. This role will partner with the parttime municipal MiM Coordinators to implement MiM in Quincy and the region.


This position will also provide additional coordination support for the City of Quincy. As such the BSCS Coordinator will be responsible for creating partnerships with Quincy municipal departments and communitybased organizations leading regional communications efforts and engaging community members with lived experience of health inequities.


What You Will Be Doing to Make a Difference...

  • In partnership with municipal MiM Coordinators implement the MiM framework through work plan development and . Apply a health and racial equity lens to understand structural determinants of racial and ethnic inequities related to healthy eating and active living.
  • Engage communitybased organizations and municipal departments in the city of Quincy introducing the Mass in Motion grant and inviting them to participate in the work. Build and sustain multisector partnerships to advance project goals.
  • Lead regional communication by creating marketing materials newsletters social media graphics etc. Support municipal Coordinators in their outreach efforts.
  • Include residents with lived experience of health inequities in partnership and work plan development ensuring that the work is rooted with the states Leading with Race and Racism framework.
  • Attend statewide regional and local community meetings. Attend webinars and trainings as required by MDPH.
  • Utilize Technical Assistance through MDPH as needed.
  • Submit annual budget and quarterly budgetary reports as required by the contract.
  • Participate in quarterly checkins with DPH liaison. Supervisor(s) must attend at least one quarterly checkin per year.
  • Collaborate with MDPH to develop evaluation targets and tracking systems for all activities.
  • Driving is required.

Requirements
  • Bachelors degree in Public Health or a related fieldand extensive relevant experience in a related field
  • Masters degree in a related field preferred but not required
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Experience convening and collaborating with stakeholders including municipal officials communitybased organizations healthcare systems and community members.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the role of policy systems and environmental change strategies.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to addressing structural racism and other systems of oppression.
  • Experience creating managing and reporting on program budgets.
  • Excellent facilitation and relationship management skills.
  • Able to navigate power dynamics and conflict across partners while maintaining a collaborative approach responsive to diverse perspectives cultures and lived experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient technical and computer skills including Microsoft Office social media platforms and website management. Familiarity with platforms such as SharePoint and Smartsheet is a plus.
  • Demonstrates strong multitasking organizational and time management skills.
  • Able to work independently and as a part of a team both inperson and virtually and take personal initiative.
  • Ability to maintain records and to keep records and information in a confidential manner
  • Ability to attend occasional community meetings/events or provide trainings outside of regular business hours (Evenings or weekends)
  • Must be a resident of Quincy or familiar with the community and its resources
  • Ability to travel outside Quincy for trainings and required meetings
