Job Description

Job Title:Magnet School Lead Teacher (Carvers Bay Early College and Career High School)

Secondary: 1.0 FTE STEAM; 1.0 FTE AVID / PLTW

Salary:100 MSAP Grant Funded 2 years remaining on a 5year Grant Funds)

Terms of Employment:200 days (Teacher on Special Assignment)

MinimumExperience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university
  • A valid SC teaching certificate
  • Minimum of five years classroom teaching experience
  • Experience with use of educational technologies required
  • Masters degree preferred
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as district administration may find appropriate and acceptable

Candidates must be able to understand and apply federal grant laws and regulations. Experience in grants management and project management is preferred.

Job Description:

The Magnet/AVID Lead Teacher provides instructional leadership professional development and program coordination to support the successful implementation of AVID methodologies and the schools Magnet theme. This role includes teaching AVID elective courses integrating the Magnet theme into the curriculum supporting teachers in instructional best practices and ensuring program effectiveness through data analysis and continuous improvement.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Instruction & Thematic Integration

  • Teach at least two AVID elective courses to ensure student engagement and program fidelity
  • Support the implementation of AVID and Magnet instructional strategies across all content areas
  • Work with educators to develop lesson plans and activities that integrate the Magnet theme while aligning with educational goals
  • Model effective teaching methods and best practices within the AVID and Magnet framework
  • Collaborate with teachers and school leadership to evaluate and integrate curriculum resources aligning with the Magnet theme and AVID strategies
  • Provide direct magnetrelated instruction to students incorporating thematic learning into lessons

Program Coordination & Professional Development

  • Coordinate AVID and Magnetrelated communication professional development and staff training
  • Facilitate AVID site team meetings to support program development and implementation
  • Assist in evaluating and selecting curriculum resources that align with the schools thematic focus and AVID strategies
  • Provide guidance and leadership in integrating the Magnet theme into district instructional programs for teachers and students
  • Share and model AVID and Magnet methodologies with faculty to support instructional growth
  • Conduct classroom walkthroughs to ensure the fidelity of AVID and Magnet strategy implementation

Data Program Evaluation & Compliance

  • Collect analyze and monitor student progress data to inform instruction and refine program goals
  • Work closely with the MSAP Project Director district accountability staff and MSAP external evaluator to ensure effective data collection submission and analysis including site visits
  • Ensure continuous improvement processes are in place utilizing interim and annual data to refine the program plan
  • Adhere to MSAP and federal regulations concerning the use of federal funds
  • Maintain detailed documentation of MSAP and AVID activities and implementation efforts

Family Community & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Facilitate community partnerships and family engagement strategies to encourage involvement in thematic curriculum development and delivery
  • Communicate with school and district personnel parents and community stakeholders to share information about AVID and Magnet programs
  • Support the recruitment retention and transition of AVID and Magnet students
  • Participate in regional and national AVID and Magnet meetings and professional development
  • Network with other AVID and Magnet schools to improve best practices and program effectiveness
  • Respond to inquiries from students parents community partners and external audiences

Additional Duties

  • Perform other related duties as the MSAP Project Director or School Principal requires
