Packaging Associate

All Packaging Associates work on a rotating schedule with every other weekend off. Shifts available are below:

Night Shift Schedule:

• 6:30pm 6:30am
• 7:00pm 7:00am

Compensation:

• Competative starting pay rate $18.66 for day Shifts additional $1.00 per hour as shift differential
• Eligible for annual & skillbased wage increases

The packers primary responsibility is to support the manufacturing group by preparing boxes to be loaded visually inspecting product loading product and stacking finished cases in a way that ensures efficient qualityoriented production. Additional responsibilities include general housekeeping of the work area and other duties as assigned.

Safety

• Seek to understand and support a safety culture and workplace

• Remain aware of surroundings and obtain knowledge of all required PPE for the job
• Responsible for following all required safety procedures are for each task you do
• Keep work area clean and organized
• Report any safety concern risk hazard near miss or injury immediately to the appropriate supervision on shift

Quality

• Follow all GMP guidelines required by the site and for each work station
• Inspect all product passing through the workstation for any possible defects or product concerns
• Report any concerns on quality of product immediately to appropriate supervision on shift

Productivity

• Must be able to construct empty boxes at a rate sufficient to maintain production on assigned machine running at standard rate

• Must be able to properly palletize finished product at a rate sufficient to maintain production and ready product for transportation
• Must be able to inspect product being manufactured to ensure the various visual quality parameters of the product produced are within acceptable limits and quickly notify the Operator and/or Supervisor of any of quality issues.
• Must do general housekeeping of manufacturing areas and equipment to ensure a safe efficient and contamination free work area and equipment is maintained. This includes sweeping and mopping of the production area wiping down the machines and removal of disposal of waste and rubbish
• Must assist the operators as required in routine startup and shut down procedures and changing packing materials from one product to another
• Must be able to salvage and repack product that is either damaged or otherwise does not meet quality requirements

• Must be able to grind defective product and must be able to keep trash and regrind separate
• Must be willing to work at any packing position available including other areas and/or departments in the plant as work load and customer requirements demand
• Must be willing to work overtime when needed
• Must promptly inform supervisor of any issues concerning safety health hygiene quality and efficiencies
• Must perform other tasks within the plant as assigned by the supervisor or group leader

Physical Requirements and Qualifications:

• Must be able to stand approximately 10 hours and 50 minutes of a 12hour shift 70 minutes of break time). All routine tasks are performed while standing.
• Reaching handling fingering and feeling are constantly present while performing job duties

• Frequently turning body from 0 to a maximum of 180 degrees
• Good eyesight is essential for constant inspection of product. Seeing both near and far color vision and depth of field are all required. Vision corrected with glasses or contact lenses is acceptable
• Frequent walking is required. Distance can be over 50 feet.
• Bending is frequently required when making boxes 1/2 of shift)
• Occasional balancing stooping kneeling crouching or talking may be required

• Lifting up to 40 pounds (empty to full boxes) is required. Items lifted include but are not limited to product boxes (empty and full) plastic liner bags tape cleaning supplies etc.
• Pushing and pulling is occasionally required. Items moved include but are no limited to boxes stands product regrind inspection tables etc.
• Controls required include hands/arms (both) and fee/legs (both)
• Environment includes inside work 100 teamwork 100 can be near or close to others can be in excess of 95 degrees during summer months
• Vibration can occasionally be present from running machines

• Noisy environment (noise levels 85dB depending upon work area)
• There is a mild plastic smell at times
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required includes safety glasses hearing protection proper safety shoes gloves and a bump cap.
• GMP requirements include hair nets beard nets and routine hand washing.
• In specific areas of the plant and in certain positions a high visibility vest is also required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred
• Ability to work independently as well as working with others effectively as a part of a team is essential

• Good verbal & interpersonal communication skills; ability to work well in group situations; ability to deal effectively with conflict in mature & consistent manner
• Flexibility to work overtime and off shifts as needed
• Must be able to stand for 1012 hours due to the nature of the work
• Must be able to wear the required PPE to enter the plant/complete the tasks
• We expect regular and timely attendance to avoid disruption to the team and the line

• Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check

Located 30 miles north of Charlotte Mooresville is a large town located in south western section of Iredell County North Carolina and is a part of the fastgrowing Charlotte Metro area.

The plant was built in 1996 manufactures cups lids and trays and has approximately 700 employees. Thia plant was also awarded the Safety Plant of the Year & Food Service Manufacture of the Year award.
