We are looking for a motivatedLINC Instructorto join our Language Team at our Surrey location!
POSITION: LINC Instructor Surrey Language Centre
DEPARTMENT: Employment Language and Social Enterprise
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Substitute teach in the case of teacher absence
- Prepare curriculum materials delivering ESL instruction under the MOSAIC curriculum guidelines
- Create a welcoming and encouraging classroom environment both in person and online as appropriate
- Maintain student attendance records
- Planning for class field trips guest speakers and special events
- Assess and evaluate students using Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) indicators and Portfolio Based Language Assessment (PBLA).
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Recognized undergraduate degree and a TESL Canadarecognized TESL certificate or a clearly documented equivalent.
- At least 2 years of experience teaching adult ESL particularly using studentcentered participatory methods. Communitybased settlement and Literacy ESL experience an asset.
- CLB Bootcamp certificate or equivalent training is required.
- Working knowledge of the CLBs (Canadian Language Benchmarks) and PBLA (Portfolio Based Language Assessment) is an asset.
- Completion of Orientation to the ESL for Adult Literacy Learnersoffered through the Centre for Canadian Language Benchmarks is considered an assethttps://learning.language/
- Competent degree of computer literacy using email word processing programs and learner management systems. Experience facilitating online learning environments is an asset.
- Highly organized tactful versatile and flexible with excellent communication skills; sensitive to and understanding of the needs of adult immigrant learners; attitudes and values in keeping with the goals and philosophies of MOSAIC.
- A current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required

COMPENSATION: $31.26 $34.56 per hour
HOURS:17.5 hours per week. Shift is for the afternoons Monday Friday
BENEFITS:A competitive benefits package is provided with contracts of at least 1 year in length and which offer a minimum of 17.5 hours of work per week.
