Job Description
Autonomous vehicles have some of the largest most complex software ever shipped in a safetycritical environment. Solving that problem is one of the most exciting technical challenges of our lifetime.
As a Systems Triage Engineer on our System Behavior Analysis Autonomous team you will play a critical role in the development of Zooxs autonomous platform working with a broad set of engineering teams across Zoox. You will help triage and root cause the issues identified during testing and realworld operations. You will also produce reports and insights that inform leadership on the overall quality and influence of engineering decisions. Your ability to distill complex systems and root cause issues will be crucial to producing a safe and stable vehicle platform.
In this role you will:
- Utilize data analytics to analyze and diagnose a wide range of system faults and errors related to hardware software and sensor data from both onroad testing and system simulation runs.
- Effectively categorize and prioritize issues based on severity urgency and potential impact on safety and performance by working collaboratively with crossfunctional teams (engineering software testing) and offshore teams.
- Identify trends in system failures and propose preventative measures to improve overall system safety and robustness by producing clear and concise reports of system issues troubleshooting steps and root cause analysis.
- Be handson lead by example and develop tools and workflows to drive improvements for both quality and quantity aspects of the triage.
- Demonstrate operational agility by quickly adapting to changing priorities managing multiple tasks simultaneously and implementing effective solutions in dynamic environments.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or STEMrelated field
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in systems troubleshooting and diagnostics preferably in the automotive or embedded systems industry
- Experience with Git Agile methodologies and scripting/programming languages (preferably Python)
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with a methodical approach to root cause analysis
- A passion for autonomous vehicle technology and safety is essential
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience in a Quality Assurance or Triage role for Autonomous Driving
- Project Management experience on programs involving crossfunctional partners and offshore teams
- Experience with Log Management Analytics or Simulation tools
Compensation
There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $150000 to $210000. A signon bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling as well as positioning within a level is determined by a range of factors including but not limited to a candidates relevant years of experience domain knowledge and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
