The anesthesia technician assists Anesthesia providers and other medical/surgical support staff in conducting activities necessary for patient assessment treatment anesthesia intervention physiological monitoring and direct patient care. The anesthesia tech is responsible for the preparation set up calibration and troubleshooting of the invasive monitoring lines assist in and ensuring the sterile placement of invasive physiological monitoring and treatment catheter (i.e. arterial pulmonary catheters venous infusion ports central venous pressures). Assist in the transfer and monitoring of patients to and from the Critical Care Units and within perioperative services. Assist with difficult airway/emergency situations. Performs proper patient identification procedures to ensure proper delivery of blood products and under the supervision of a licensed provider. Responsible for obtaining/providing/maintaining safe accurate and clean equipment/supplies used for patient treatment monitoring and testing. Responsible for the retrieving and delivery of supplies equipment needed for Anesthesia providers in a timely manner. Initiates trials and inservices of new Anesthesia products/equipment to improve quality of care. Identifies eliminates or reduces safety hazards and is knowledgeable of process for reporting hazards errors. Works closely with Supply logistics to order and assist with the stocking of anesthesia supplies for the operating room and procedural areas throughout the hospital.
Multitasking skills required. Strong communication skills required.
EDUCATION: High school diploma. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. EXPERIENCE: Basic computer skills needed. The anesthesia tech must have clinical expertise and indepth knowledge of hemodynamic monitoring. EMT experience Paramedic experience or Medic experience in the military CNA or PCT training program or completion of fundamentals as a nursing student or 12 months acute care (bedside) experience. Must be flexible must be able to multitask and adapt to unpredictable situations. Requires independent judgment a high level of motivation accountability flexibility interest in patient care and compassion for people. Requires upper and lower physical strength to be able to manage the pushing and pulling of stretchers equipment.COMPETENCY: JOB KNOWLEDGE: Principles of aseptic technique orientation of surgical procedures preparation operation and care of equipment and machines; understands patient and staff safety recommendations. Capable of rapid accurate reactions; concern for quality patient care; communicates and works effectively with various levels of personnel; stands and walks major portion of work schedule; moderate to heavy lifting required; exposure to infection biohazardous chemicals and xrays.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
