Finance Operations InternOverview:
Precinct 4 Forward Internship Program P4FIP) is an 9week paid summer internship for students with a passion for serving others.
Weve designed our program to expose students to career opportunities with Harris County and apply what they have learned in the classroom to handson projects. P4FIP provides students the chance to bridge the gap between academic understanding and practical professional experience.
Interns will create a community to help support their personal and professional development throughout the summer as they launch their career. Interns will work with a mentor form relationships with other interns and engage our Senior Leadership Team.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Operations Finance Intern will be a key partner to the Operations Team with a focus on financial reporting and (KPIs) Key Performance Indicators reporting.
- This role requires an understanding of financial budgets project management skills an analytical mindset and the ability to effectively communicate with both operations and finance.
- Accounting: Apply generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to analyze financial information reconcile budget and expense accounts prepare general and standard journal entries assist in budget development and prepare standard financial reports for management.
- Report business financial results in a manner that drives comprehensive understanding and actionable improvement 50.
- Prepare monthly/biweekly reports and presentations for leadership (includes executive management in operations)
- Partner with other Operations Financial Analysts and the Operations Manager to create analytics and KPIs.
- Utilize excel best practices and raise the bar for Excel use throughout the Finance team.
- Other strategic projects and collaboration with other Finance Interns in creating Dashboards.

- Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Internship Requirements:
Minimum of two years of college completed from an accredited fouryear college or university in Business Finance Economics Accounting or a related field.
Minimum GPA of3.2
Proficiency in Microsoft software applications including Outlook Word Excel PowerPoint and Share Point.
- Knowledge of financial and accounting principles.
- Good organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to multitask.
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
