JOB SUMMARY
The Forklift Operator is assigned to perform production support related tasks to support efficient operations as needed to achieve and maintain ontime production product quality standards low waste and operational safety
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Forklift Operator is assigned to perform production support related tasks to support efficient operations as needed to achieve and maintain ontime production product quality standards low waste and operational safety
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
General:
Work as part of a team to help coordinate overall warehouse press & packaging materials handling operations across designated shifts as needed to achieve ontime performance including product quality standards waste goals operational safety including OSHA and EPA compliance. Comply with all related material handling Standard Operating Procedures
Material Handling Tasks
Drive and setup Forklift and/or clamp truck inspection & maintenance.
Load unload inspect & stage newsprint preprints supplies and other materials.
Assist with waste newsprint recovery & recycling.
Assist with pallet organization
Shipping & receiving dock oversight.
Distribution dock support.
Document & report all preprint transit or handling damage.
Document & report all newsprint roll transit or handling damage to management.
Reel operations: Deliver stage & prepare newsprint rolls as required.
Assist with newsprint inventories as needed.
General maintenance including cleaning clamp/fork truck and compacting related equipment.
Operate offline baler machine. Bale paper Cardboard etc.
Safety
Always work in a safe manner and consistently utilize required safety equipment to promote topofmind safety awareness:
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Complete required annual OSHA safety training programs: Lockout/Tagout Hazardous Communications Personal Protective Equipment Hearing Conservation Blood Borne Pathogens Forklift.
Ensure all machine safetyguards are installed functioning properly and in use.
Immediately report any potential safety hazards operational concerns and all accidents/injuries and near misses to packaging management and supervisors
Communication
Provide timely and accurate reports and information to the operations team & management.
Immediately report equipment issues to operations team and management.
Communicate scheduling needs to press management and supervisors.
Other duties as assigned
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- H.S. diploma or equivalent associates degree preferred.
- Experience in printing industry preferred.
