Chief Scientist (Saudi Arabia)

JOB PURPOSE:

.

A Cracker Technology expert with deep understanding of process Optimization responsible for identifying, developing and implementing short, mid and long-term technology projects in Ethylene Crackers (Liquid/Gas/Mixed) for Improving yield, quench system and energy intensity.

.

Responsible to analyze key process trends and translate findings into actionable recommendations. Provide technical support and information to the team in statistical process data analysis, results interpretation, technology reports preparation, troubleshooting plant issues and developing innovative and creative solutions based on in-depth Olefins and Aromatics technology knowledge and past experience.

.

Mentor project leaders/ team for planning, prioritizing tasks and execution of technology projects. Maintain up to date knowledge in the area of Olefins and Aromatics technology advancements and timely advise senior management, technical project leaders, programme managers and other scientists on the feasibility and applicability of technology solutions.

Support Olefins and Aromatics business in evaluation of large grassroots petrochemical complexes, capacity expansions/ asset improvements, troubleshooting and strategic business initiatives.

.

Co-ordinate work with cross-functional teams (Manufacturing/Affiliates /Licensing/ Chemicals Business Unit) to achieve project objectives. Participate in internal/external Technology assessment as Subject Matter Experts (SME) for evaluation of Technology for implementation in SABIC.

KEY ACOUNTABILITIES:

The following are the key accountabilities for which only this role is accountable, indicating the percentage (%) of time spent:

1- Apply robust scientific methodologies to analyze and interpret complex data sets, develop simulation, predictive modeling and analysis tools for resolving technical issues in plant. (20%)

2- Generate new ideas and develop it from proof of concept to commercial scale. (15%)

3- Lead technology solution development and execution to improve plant performance. (15%)

4 -Train and Mentor project leaders and team in execution of technology Projects or Technical Support to Affiliates. (15%)

5- Support Manufacturing and Performance monitoring group as SME in Benchmarking and Gap Closure Studies. (15%)

6- Conduct due diligence on emerging Technologies / Advancements in Olefins and Aromatics Technology. Prepare technology white paper to translate technical knowledge into relevant recommendations and guidance for senior management. (10%)

7- Coordinate with external professional bodies (consortium), forums, expert groups and technology providers for collaboration to achieve business objectives. (10%)

8- Identify training needs of the team and conduct /organize formal trainings to improve technical capabilities of the team. (10%)

Minimum Qualifications: Minimum Post Graduate Degree in Chemical Engineering

Minimum Experience: Minimum 15 years of experience in Ethylene/Olefins Plant process design, optimization, and operations with focus on conceptual development, energy optimization, debottlenecking and process modeling & simulation.
