Job Description
- Projects Responsible Person on all Engineering aspects of Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Equipment plus HSE related issues on existing and future facilities.
- Will provide excellent; Client, vendor and Financial Team liaison
- Create a register of equipment tags and daughter tags for identifying all items of equipment for entry into CMMS and P&ID’s
- Review current P&ID’s and where there are inaccuracies or omissions, ensure accurate, updated and authorised copies are produced for your discipline area of expertise.
- Ensure adherence to; and implementation of, Management of Change Procedure from inception to Factory Acceptance Testing and commissioning.
- Direction on day to day I&C priorities to Shutdown Team Supervision and support the prompt execution of all projects pertaining to the Instrument Engineer position.
- Apply solid engineering judgement at all times and ensure BP’s current and future codes, procedures and standards are adhered to.
- Periodically review I&C work permit effectiveness. Provide guidance to correct anomalies as required.
- Assess, mentor on competency / implement training needs of I&C personnel.
- Investigation Team member for HSE incidents.
- Communicate I&C instructions on; and confirm full understanding to prevent repetition of Near Miss incidents
- Periodic reviews and revisions of Checklists pertaining to the position
- Consider needs and engineer solutions to enhance maximum plant availability (de-bottlenecking) and integrity of equipment.
- Compile / distribute comprehensive reports.
- Compile I&C handovers pre / post field breaks.
- Fully support the clients’ Materials Maintenance Management System.
- Detailed knowledge of and experience of Fire and Gas, PLCs, Analysers and Fiscal Metering systems.
- Direction to I&C Supervision and vendors. Coordinate Training and Development needs of Sub-contractors.
- Seek improvement opportunities, liaising with Peer Group, Shutdown Manager and Maintenance and Construction Supervisors
- Provide clarity on I&C issues for root cause analysis studies.
- Provide operations support to shutdown teams pre / post activities.
- Prioritise focus between North and South to maximise effectiveness
- Active involvement in commissioning after, or preventing plant trips, modifications or new plant post engineering is required.
