- This position is responsible in ensuring the efficient operation of the hotel property and all its equipment ancillary maintenance and repair services and protection of the Owners asset.
- Structural aspects of the hotel as well as the maintenance of grounds and external facilities fall within the span of responsibility of the Director Of Engineering.
- Monitor budget and control expenses within all areas of the department
- Responsible for determining the security requirements necessary to ensure that hotel property employees guests and patrons are protected against theft crime and other hazards and/or manage the relationship with a third party
security firm contracted for such purposes - Coordinating purchasing for the Engineering departments with the finance team as per the hotel procedures
- Manage sufficient par level stock of spare parts and ensures all incoming and outgoing items are registered.
- Implements all necessary work procedures for preventive maintenance initiate respective scheduled procedures and monitors carrying out of work as well as recording the results within appropriate filing system
- Prioritizes department workload and efficiently repairs breakdowns.
- Plan and execute the annual Preventative Maintenance program for the hotel.
- To have a complete understanding of and to adhere to Mvenpick Hotels & Resorts policy relating to Fire Hygiene Health and Safety.
- To oversee all technical installations on hotel plant Sewage system Fresh water Emergency Generator Air Condition System Technical building Services Kitchen equipment Cooling systems Swimming pools hotel lightening inhouse Music & TV system and Paging system.
- To ensure a consistently high standard of grooming is followed and by self and team
- Have full knowledge of all products and services provided by the property and in the local area
- Provides solutions for emergency situations and problems of a larger nature.
- To lead and support employees in the achievement of financial operational and service delivery targets via effective organizational policy and procedural development and appropriate colleague training activities
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior engineering operations position or 23 years of experience in a similar capacity
- High degree of professionalism with strong understanding of business acumen
- Previous Engineering experience in a comparable leadership role within a similar hotel brand or operation.
- Exceptional technical skills and knowledge in managing complex and diverse facilities
- Strong relator with ability to build collaborative relationships.
- Strategic creative and able to communicate effectively.
- A proven leader who is able to inspire others and drive change.
- Strong business acumen and demonstrated success in driving business.
- Must have professional working knowledge of electrical mechanical plumbing and Hot water generation systems including devices such as pressure regulators solenoid valves gas valves electrical relays etc.
