This position is 1.0 PY (fulltime position).

Located in the picturesque hamlet of Gjoa Haven Qiqirtaq High School serves the community of Gjoa Haven. The school has a population of approximately 194 students in a 712 setting with a staff of 24. The school and community are steeped in a rich history of Inuit culture.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor of Education degree or Pending Degree
- Teaching certification acceptable for Nunavut Teaching Certification
In the event that this competition becomes an open until filled posting this position may be offered as a one year term under Letter of Authority.
Desired qualifications:
- Experience and / or training with current assessment methods
- Evidence of differentiated instruction and inclusive practices
- Experience and / or training in classroom management practices and the development of positive learning environments (eg. Restitution Tribes Positive Effective Behavior Supports etc.
- Crosscultural and/or northern teaching experience
- Evidence of training and / or experience in the area of Balanced Literacy
- Training and / or teaching experience in an ESL environment
- Evidence / experience building positive relationships with students colleagues parents stakeholders
Please note: Subsidized housing is available but sharing may be required.
The salary for certified teachers ranges from $83643 prorated/annum. to $131151 prorated/annum.
The Northern Allowance for Gjoa Haven is $26345 prorated/annum.
