Are you researchoriented with strong analytical and interpretation skills We are looking for a Tax Analyst to join our Accounting and Finance department in Calgary Alberta.
Under the direction and leadership of the VP Finance you will be responsible for a wide variety of taxation issues and financial reporting such as the preparation and review of income tax provisions tax returns elections and other filings.
What Else You Get To Do:
- Ensure compliance with all taxrelated regulatory requirements including income and commodity tax returns withholding tax elections and financial reporting
- Prepare tax provision working papers (both Canada and US) and assist with the preparation of variance analysis and consolidated financial statement notes
- Liaise with BURNCO Finance personnel on taxrelated matters including monthly reporting budget and forecasting
- Provide oversight for reporting and timely submission of indirect tax sales filings (GST and PST) and account reconciliations. Review and approve Federal and Provincial tax compliance filings and payments.
- Use research interpretation analytical and communication skills to assist on various taxrelated projects
- Communicate with internal and external auditors including tax authorities
- Assist with employment taxable benefit issues
- Work closely with external tax advisors to prepare all U.S. state and federal corporate and partnership tax returns as well as other tax reporting requirements such as Forms 1099 and 1042
- Monitor and analyze changes in tax legislation and advise management of potential impact on the company
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts
- Prepare and develop tax horizon models on an entity basis as well as consolidated
- Respond to inquiries from tax authorities
- Assist in preparing transfer pricing policies and documentation
- Taxrelated projects including financings and M&A tax due diligence.
- Researching complex tax issues and preparing technical documentation to support the Companys position.
- Establish appropriate systems or processes to identify and manage tax compliance risk.
- Improve processes by developing or implementing best practices.
- Perform ad hoc tax related duties as assigned
What You Will Need to Succeed:
This position has the following occupational requirements:
- Bachelors degree in accounting finance or a related field
- CPA designation or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of relevant tax experience preferably in a public accounting firm or corporate tax environment

- Excellent attention to detail
- In depth knowledge of Canadian tax
- Knowledge of the Internal Revenue Code and Federal Tax Regulations is considered an asset
- Ability to effectively communicate technical matters in clear simple language
- Strong research writing verbal and analytical skills
- Excellent working knowledge of Excel is required
- Ability to work independently and in a close team environment
