Job Description
We are searching for a dedicated Specialty Pharmacist to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this role you will play a crucial part in managing and providing pharmaceutical care for patients requiring specialized medications ensuring optimal therapeutic outcomes and improving patient quality of life. The ideal candidate will possess a background in specialty pharmacy or a willingness to learn a commitment to patient wellbeing and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough medication reviews and develop personalized care plans for patients receiving specialty medications.
Monitor patient outcomes and adjust therapy as needed to ensure optimal therapeutic results.
Provide patient counseling and education on the proper use potential side effects and storage of specialty medications.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize medication therapy and resolve any drugrelated issues.
Oversee the dispensing of specialty medications ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
Manage inventory and procurement of specialty medications including temperaturesensitive and highcost .
Assist patients with navigating insurance coverage and prior authorization processes for specialty medications.
Work with insurance companies and financial assistance programs to ensure patients have access to necessary medications.
Stay current with advancements in specialty pharmaceuticals including new drug therapies and emerging treatment guidelines.
Participate in quality assurance programs and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance pharmacy services.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors of Pharmacy or PharmD degree from an accredited pharmacy program.
Experience in specialty pharmacy.
State pharmacy license in good standing.
Proficiency in managing and dispensing specialty medications.
Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Certification in a specialty area (e.g. BCPS BCOP).
Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Dedication to ongoing professional development and continuous improvement.
