Power Supply Design Engineer

This position is for an Electronics Design Engineer who will work in the high voltage power supply group reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of micro power supply design analog circuitry embedded systems etc.

Responsibilities will include the design of new high voltage micro power supplies starting from the product concept to breadboard proof of circuitry to prototypes and release to production. These devices are high voltage low current designs typically 50200 mW.

The work includes preparation of project proposals; circuit design and analysis; PC board layout concept & requirements; mechanical design supervision and concept formulation; stress and reliability analysis of circuitry; component specification derating and selection; cost analysis; and preparation of product documentation.

The individual will be responsible for the design of new products and the upgrading of existing products to reduce cost add features improve performance & reliability and to incorporate embedded technology in those designs. Experience with SPICE and design software circuit miniaturization and high voltage technology are highly preferred.

This position requires strong communications skills (verbal and written) that are carried out in a timely manner and that may include daily interaction with engineers at other Elbit Systems of America locations. The candidate may be required to prepare and maintain project schedules and to supervise the activities of electronics technicians and interns. The individual will be expected to work in a handson manner and to provide oneonone mentoring of technicians and interns.

Qualifications :

• BS Electrical Engineering or closely related field
• 3 years of experience or 2 with MEE
• Ability to obtain DOD Security Clearance

Preferred:

• Experience with any of the following: high voltage micro power supply design low power ultradense electronic packaging miniature electronic devices magnetics EMI filtering power supply control theory manufacturing of power supply and/or high voltage micro circuits
• Experience with Failure Analysis of micro high voltage power supplies
• Experience with digital electronics DSPs PGAs FPGAs PICs and Microcontrollers/Microprocessors (STM32 and MSP430 in particular)
• Strong electronic hardware design experience and good understanding of firmware/software development processes
• Experience developing schematics and PCB layouts in compliance with the specifications
• Verify design robustness by completing EMI product level testing
• Excellent analytical skills and ability to work in a team oriented environment
• Experience with closed loop feedback systems
• Effectively communicate design and engineering requirements
• Able to work as part of a cross functional team
• Demonstrated initiative leadership communication and interpersonal skills
• Capability to develop and conduct electrical tests to include troubleshooting
• MS Office skills; Outlook Word Excel Power Point and Visio
