The Office of Citywide Procurement (OCP) develops awards and administers approximately 1100 requirement contracts for goods and services on behalf of all City agencies departments boards and authorities leveraging the Citys buying power and maximizing efficiencies by reducing duplicative work. Procures on average nearly $1.5 billion in goods and services for City agencies annually. Quality Assurance (QA) comprises five Quality Assurance units: Food Fuel Automotive Health & Safety and Miscellaneous within OCP. Quality Assurance inspects and conducts quality assurance determinations against purchase orders and contract specifications involving commodities purchased through or in cooperation with OCP. These determinations intend to ascertain and ensure that the City receives the quality level and value of the goods contracted.
As a New York City Public Service Fellow in the Office of Citywide Procurement (OCP) the selected fellow will have the following responsibilities:
I. Responsible for all phases of quality assurance/inspection work and inspection in relation to various materials and supplies or products procured by DCAS.
II. Perform assignments on inspecting plant and delivery equipment of vendors to ensure that they can confer with department officials purchasing personnel and representatives of manufacturers and vendors.
III. Make recommendations on the ability of the manufacturer to supply the product requested adequately.
IV. Assist in the preparation or revision of contract or purchase order specifications.
V. Approve receiving reports and purchase orders for payment.
VI. Take appropriate samples adequately identify them by grade and vendor and record all relevant data.
VII. Evaluate laboratory reports pertaining to the sample to determine the acceptability of delivery.
VIII. Evaluate complaints made by vendors and work with agency personnel and receiving locations to resolve conflicts.
IX. Create a report recommending actions for noncompliant deliveries or adverse product findings.
X. Maintain a record of deliveries: issue inspection documents and prepare associated data reports and correspondence.
XI. Drive an assigned vehicle to various locations including outoftown designations and maintain trip logs.
XII. Attend prebid conferences.
XIII. Contribute ideas and provide input for continuous process improvement of quality inspection services.
XIV. Assist with conducting plant or pilot inspections drafting reports related to buyer inquiry requests and acting as the principal assistant.
XV. Perform other related activities as may be requested.
