Job Title: Shop Manager Electrical

Department: Manufacturing / Electrical & Commissioning

Location: Milwaukee

Reports To: Production Manager Facility


FLSA Status: Exempt

Work Hours: 7:00 am 3:30 pm

SUMMARY

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in setting up installing repairing and maintaining electrical components and electronic systems by performing the following duties.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Supervise plan and coordinate work for electrical panels cabinets electrical equipment wiring harnesses and other systems on the train based on work schedule and material requirements.

Supervising the electrical and commissioning management team (Supervisors and Team Leaders) to ensure that the electrical and commissioning team safely achieves the project and production goals

Interprets company policies to the mechanical management team and enforces safety regulations in accordance with FRA OSHA the clients and AAR standards.

Develops planning for the electrical and commissioning team to ensure the department meets daily production goals.

Initiates or suggest production safety and moral improvement initiatives.

Provides feedback on budget issues to the Production Manager.

Enforces all applicable FRA OSHA FDA the clients and other agency rules regulations laws and standards.

Recommends measures to improve manufacturing and repair methods equipment performance and quality of product to Production Manager.

Monitors parts and supply usage on electrical equipment.

Monitors and maintains availability of all tools required for department.

Functions as the technical expert on all electrical systems of trainset and support equipment.

Involves all Electrical Technicians in an ongoing training program to maintain and advance technical proficiency of employees and monitors the training provided to ensure it meets the requirements of the associated reference or company procedure.

Assists the supervisors and leads in the training and development of technicians.

Confers with the electrical and commissioning supervisors and team leaders to coordinate activities of electrical and commissioning Department.

Supervise supports and schedules manufacturing schedule.

Adjusts work procedures and staffing levels to meet production schedules.

Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.

Interprets engineering drawings technical papers and related documentation and implements them into process.

Utilization of business and work order management software such as SAP

Consults with other shop managers to coordinate activities of individual departments

Directly supervises electrical and commissioning management team members in the preparation and delivery of staff performance evaluations and career development activities.


Follows and supports all safety standards and practices required by State Customer and the client.
Identify safety requirements by reviewing regulations guidelines and standards to include State Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies procedures and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing hiring and training employees; planning assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required.

35 years experience with AC/DC power schematic high and low electrical applications and control systems
Knowledge of tools equipment and materials common to the electrical trade
Maintain certifications required
Must have good oral/written English communication skills (BiLingual Spanish is a plus)
Tooling design experience
Team player
35 years experience of various measurement and data analysis tools (excel MS project Gantt software etc.
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to understand/read schematics and electrical installation drawings
Must have a high working knowledge of computer software to include but not limited to MS Office Suite (Outlook Excel and Word)
SAP experience (minimum 3 years preferred)

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
35 years manufacturing management industrial/electrical maintenance diagnosing electronic systems
Bachelor degree (B. S. in manufacturing/operations management industrial manufacturing electrical or electronics engineering/systems or related
35 years experience in a supervisor/management role.

Preferred: Railroad and train experience 35 years). Production operations or maintenance.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to employees of the organization. BiLingual Spanish is valuable.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to perform advanced mathematical operations (addition subtraction multiplication and division) across various units of measure including whole numbers fractions decimals and complex numbers. Proficiency in applying mathematical concepts such as linear algebra differential and integral calculus and differential equations to solve engineering problems. Competence in calculating rates ratios percentages derivatives and integrals. Ability to utilize mathematical tools and engineering software for modeling and analyzing complex systems.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Prior to starting employment:
Must be capable of reading blueprints drawings schematics and high knowledge in production and project planning tools and methods (office MS project gantt etc.
SAP knowledge and experience (minimum 3 years preferred).
Must be a team player and have a positive attitude.
Must have good organizational skills.
Must be able to meet stringent deadlines.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high precarious places and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
WORK SCHEDULE
Work is generally performed from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm and may include weekends and holidays. Travel with train may be required in emergencies.
