Summary
The QA Product Coordinator is a member of the Quality Assurance Team and is responsible for assisting with various tasks within the department; including creating custom packages of specialty food samples to support our national sales team in securing new business overseeing the review of all product samples entering the FM office (existing and potential products) and assisting the New Product Team with product analysis.
Essential Functions
PRODUCT SAMPLE REQUEST PRODUCTION
- Prepares product samples by hand (average of 200 cups per day/ 3 days per week)
- Packages and labels product samples as needed for shipping
QUALITY ASSURANCE AND FOOD SAFETY OF PRODUCTS
- Works with the Quality Assurance team to select appropriate product LOTS for sampling
- Conducts formal organoleptic review (tasting the products) to confirm they are within the approved quality specification
- Maintains log of all product lots opened for sampling including quality evaluation and comments
- Cleans and sanitizes sample production area and utensils per SSOP protocol; maintaining appropriate records
- Assists QA Team with implementation and management of HACCP/SSOP/GMP for Sampling Dept.
MANAGES PRODUCT TESTING PROGRAM
- Sets up participates in and documents review/tasting of potential/competitive products
- Tests first shipment of new products against specifications
- Conducts inhouse shelf life studies
Other Duties
- Visits warehouse in NJ to pickup product and assist with special projects as needed
- Assists New Product Development and QA Team with various projects as needed
Qualifications :
Background Requirements
- College degree preferred
- Prior experience as a restaurant expediter foodservice employee or fulfillment specialist is preferred
- HACCP certification and/or Food Handlers License preferred
Skill & Ability Requirements
- Extremely organized with excellent attention to detail
- Comfortable handling firm daily deadlines
- Able to move and lift up to 40 lbs.
- Proficiency in Excel preferred
- Able to quickly adjust priorities and handle unexpected & time sensitive requests
- Work well independently and be a selfmotivated individual who takes pride in doing good work
