KTAL NBC 6 KMSS FOX KSHV 45 in Shreveport Louisiana currently in search of an experienced handson journalist to serve as Digital Content Producer!
Adigitalcontentproducer(DCP)writesupdates and sharesstoriesrangingfromlocal newsflipstobreakingandnationallytrendingstoriesfor Ktalnews with the goal of growing website pageviews and users.
A DCPisapassionate writerand leaderwhotakes initiative andthinkscritically and independently.As the first personto getrealtimenews out totheDMAa DCPs deadline is alwaysnow.
This is a position evaluated bypageviewstime on pagepages per session and bouncemetrics.Candidate must prioritize growing Ktalnews.coms web/apptraffic while balancing/maintaining journalistic integrity.
Be the first to report breaking news stories; monitor analytic tools RSS feeds social media alertsall regional mediafor interesting and/or trending stories
Writedailyflipstories (avg. 10 stories/day)that are packaged in a way that grows pages per session and time on pagewhile utilizingSEO best practicesto grow website search traffic
Constantly monitor competition to ensure no flip stories across the DMA are missed
Post package and promote stories from thirdparty feed partners(Nexstar AP NBC etc.
Proofread package and promotebroadcastreporter stories
Work with producers andnews field crewon adding video to web stories(when applicable)
Manage passive livestreams (when applicable)
Pushengagingand breakingstories on mobile app(when applicable)
Generatemeaningful audience engagementon social mediawithout baiting(when applicable)
Develop new digital content ideas forKtalnews
Performs other duties as assigned
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Proficiency inAP Stylewritingand SEO best practices
Clever headline writer that gets readers to click
Works with urgency minimum 60wordsperminute typing speed
Abilitytogenerate highengagementsocial mediapostswithlink clickthroughs
Familiar with Google Analytics Chartbeat Social Flow and WordPress
Excels infastpaced sometimes highpressure work environment with accurate visual indepth digital coverage
Comfortable with cold calling to develop stories
Highlydetailorientedwithexcellentnewsroom judgment
Ability to multitask;flexible with schedule in times of breaking news severe weather etc.
High digital aptitude in respect to latest CMS and social media updates and trends
Takesinitiative toseekout and understand new digitalnewsapplicationsand resources
Possessesjournalistic integrity and understanding of viewer needs and expectations
Can communicate coordinate and collaborate with other members of the newsroom
Maintain positive work environment through active team participation and cooperation with coworkers in all departments
Responds positively to feedback
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:Two yearsofexperiencein digital or print newsroom.Achieved aBachelors Degreein Communication Marketing Journalism. Equivalent experience may substitute.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: High stresshigh energyenvironment with deadline pressures. Some travel may be required onrare occasions.
