NORC at the University of Chicago (NORC)is an objective nonpartisan research organization that delivers insights and analysis decisionmakers trust.
NORC partners with government corporate and nonprofit clients around the world to conduct survey research that informs critical decisions facing society.
- NORC Field Data Collectors internally known as field interviewers play a significant role in collecting the data that drives our research.
- Available to work a flexible parttime schedule. Our most successful interviewers typically dedicate 46 hours a day to working on their assignments.
- Selfstarter who can manage organize and commit to their own work schedule.
- Enjoys meeting new people from diverse backgrounds and professions.
- Has field interviewing sales hospitality marketing financial real estate tax preparation teaching or customer service experience.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED Preferred.
- Willing to work a flexible schedule of 15 25 hours per week.
- Must be comfortable contacting people inperson at their homes often without notice.Flexible availability to work a mix of weekdays and evenings/weekends often to reach people who are not home during the work week.
- Valid drivers license automobile insurance and access to reliable transportation.
- Must be willing to drive 50 miles or more round trip to complete required task.
- Must reside within 100 miles of the location displayed in this job posting.
- Must be able to use a NORCprovided tablet and applications for tasks such as sending emails and capturing notes about work completed.
- Must attend all virtual and inperson training sessions.
- Have ability to travel for 3 day inperson training sessions located in Greater Chicago NYC or Los Angeles area.
- All employees hired for this position must present evidence of their identity and authorization to work in the United States.
- Qualified applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S. We regret that we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position.
This position is classified as intermittent. The pay range for this position will be $19.00 $28.41 per hour based on experience and geographic location.
- Field Interviewers working on the 2025 SCF project are eligible to earn an additional $50 $100 biweekly if required training and performance standards are met and maintained.
- NORC will contribute to an individually owned fully vested retirement account with TIAA at a rate of $4.93 for each hour worked and contributions will be made on a quarterly basis.
- Intermittent staff are eligible to make pretax or posttax contributions as part of NORCs Supplemental Retirement Plan.

- The Survey of Consumer Finances (SCF) collects information about the financial assets and liabilities of American households. Policymakers use SCF data to understand differences in the wealth and financial wellbeing of American families across time.

- Much of the work needed for this project is completed from March to June 2025. All field interviewers wishing to continue working on this project to its anticipated end of December 2025 must complete additional training.
