Engineering Lead / Head of Engineering

Were seeking an exceptional Head of Engineering to join our Senior Leadership team in London. This is a crucial role that combines technical expertise with strategic leadership driving our engineering excellence while nurturing our talented development team. The role would be perfect for a senior engineer with people management experience looking for the next step in their career.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor our engineering team fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation
• Drive strategic technical decisions and architecture choices across all projects
• Oversee project delivery ensuring technical quality and alignment with business objectives
• Represent our technical capabilities to clients and stakeholders
• Develop and implement engineering processes and best practices
• Support personal growth and career development within the engineering team
• Collaborate with other department heads to drive business strategy
• Manage resource allocation and capacity planning with Head of Project Delivery
• Contribute to technical discovery and solution architecture
• Drive innovation in our tech stack and development practices

Requirements

• Proven leadership experience in a senior engineering role
• Strong technical background with handson experience in our tech stack
• Track record of successfully delivering complex digital products
• Excellence in team management and mentoring
• Experience scaling engineering teams and processes
• Strong commercial acumen and budget management experience
• Confident presentation and client communication skills
• Strategic thinking with ability to balance technical excellence and business needs

Technical Expertise

• Deep understanding of modern web technologies and architecture
• Expert knowledge of:
  • MERN Stack (MongoDB Express React Node.js)
  • TypeScript
  • Cloud Infrastructure (AWS)
  • Knowledge of mobile development (React Native) would be advantageous
• Experience with architecture and scalable systems
