Our client a vibrant and reputable organization is seeking a Senior Accountant that values community quality and fun to join their team! This is a fulltime permanent opportunity based in Saint Johns NL and ideal for a full cycle professional who thrives in a startup environment and embraces challenge and change.
Key Responsibilities for the Job:
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable maintain yearend working papers and spreadsheets and assist in monthly financial statement preparation including reporting packages
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes track monthly performance and assist in preparing financial information for quarterly and annual reports
- Provide strategic analysis to aid decisionmaking
- Maintain a systematic filing system to support bookkeeping and financial records
- Ensure accurate inventory and costing records support annual audits and manage compliance with government reporting and tax filings. Contribute to accounting policy and control formulation with the Assistant Controller
- Oversee biweekly payroll processing review tax remittances ensure timely T4 distribution and stay current with payroll standards and regulations
- Other related duties as required or assigned
Experience & Attributes for Success:
- Postsecondary education in accounting finance or commerce
- CPA designation is not required but is strongly preferred
- Minimum 3 years progressive relevant experience preferably in industry
- Extensive experience and knowledge of all aspects of financial management including budget preparation
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven leadership skills driven to support other teams members growth and development
- Previous accounting experience in the construction industry is an asset
- Sound analytical thinking planning prioritization and skills
- Driven and proactive work ethic with the ability to meet deadlines and management a changing workload
- Selfmotivated with the ability to work on your own and within a team
