Job Description

Legal Assistant

Our client is a multidisciplinary law firm that emphasizes innovation and commitment in a dynamic work environment. With a passionate team the firm strives to offer progressive and creative solutions to its clients. To support its operations it is seeking a bilingual Legal Assistant for its Montr al office.

Annual salary of $70.000 to $80.000 based on experience.
Permanent fulltime position 35 hours per week.
Work schedule: Day shift Monday to Friday.
Office presence: 2 days per week.
Remote work: On other days except for inperson meetings or training sessions.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and draft various documents and correspondence.
Draft standard letters memoranda and legal pleadings.
Organize trials discovery procedures etc. and prepare the necessary documentation.
Interact with clients by phone and in person.
Schedule appointments for clients.
Maintain a filing system including a reminder system.
Sort incoming mail and prepare outgoing mail.
Perform other related duties as required.

What you will need to succeed:

Diploma in legal secretarial studies or equivalent training.
3 to 5 years of experience as a legal assistant in a law firm.
Excellent proficiency in both French and English spoken and written to effectively interact with a diverse clientele and draft documents in both languages.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to draft correspondence and standard documents with minimal supervision.
Strong administrative and organizational skills.
High attention to detail and ability to manage a significant workload.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
Experience in litigation is preferred.
