3 months contract with local authority
About the Role
- Professional Engineering Services: Provide professional engineering services in the delivery and implementation of traffic schemes.
- Camden s Transport Strategy: Play a crucial role in making Camden a safe and pleasant place to be furthering the key objectives of Camden s Transport Strategy which include encouraging healthy and sustainable modes of transport such as walking and cycling reducing road casualties improving air quality and increasing economic growth.
- Scheme Delivery: Assist in managing the council s highways term contractor on the delivery of schemes ensuring they are implemented to agreed timescales budgets and specifications.
- Compliance: Manage schemes in compliance with all health and safety guidelines and regulatory legislation.
- Liaison: Liaise with both internal and external parties at all levels in the delivery of schemes.
- Road Closures and Parking Suspensions: Organize temporary road closures to vehicular traffic and/or suspension of parking spaces with the relevant teams.
- Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with Ward councillors local groups residents and other interested parties directly affected by works to ensure they are aware of and notified of any potential impact.
- Legislation and Best Practices: Keep up to date with legislation changes and best practices applying this to the work of the design team and disseminating information to colleagues both within and outside of the service.
About You
- Professional Experience: Track record of successful professional experience in the discipline of traffic engineering particularly with the implementation of schemes.
- Understanding of Local Government: Good understanding of the principal responsibilities of and the key issues facing local government and the legal and professional framework associated with engineering and traffic matters.
- Contract Management: Good knowledge of contract management including conditions of contract specifications financial management and contractual procedures.
- Qualifications: Qualification in Engineering/Transportation to degree level with successful postqualification experience or proven track record of successful engineering experience.
- Health and Safety Knowledge: Good understanding of Health and Safety Regulations CDM production of Health & Safety Plans Site Waste Management Plans and Risk Assessments.
