Job Description
The Group Leader Operational Development at EC Northeim has functional responsibility of the local OD team. The position will cover the function of the group leader as well as the function of an operational development specialist with profound (polymer) chemical knowledge. The Operational Development team has responsibility for local product launch activities. The team is responsible for local product robustness in the plant. Interfaces and main stakeholders are regional Development EC local production PPI quality product management and purchasing. In addition it contributes to the successful transfer of products between plants in the region.
The development and improvement of elastomeric materials processing techniques and lab tests requires a multidisciplinary skillset that combines knowledge of material science and industrial processes applied to polymers and textiles.
- Functional responsibility of approx. 5 OD developers
- Initiate and oversee projects related to the introduction of new materials aimed at product continuous improvement
- Robust industrialization of the product portfolio
- Support of plant efficiency and quality targets by product optimization projects
- Continuous improvement and adaptation of our products and formulations
- Execute and supervise testing activities on both existing and new materials
- Managing relationships with internal (e.g. Regional Development Production Quality Engineering Purchasing) and external partners (e.g. research centers and industrial collaborators) as well as overseeing the project budget and expenses
Qualifications :
- Academic degree preferably in Chemistry or Materials Science
- Profound experience in polymer characterization rubber compounding and processing materials selection
- Experience in the development of rubber products including their industrialization in the production plant are highly welcome
- Strong critical thinking and problemsolving skills
- Good communication skills to independently engage collaborators
- Experience in working with international teams on production topics and understanding of foreign cultures
- Fluent German and Englisch language skills both written and spoken
