Job Description

This FarmertoFarmer assignment will be implemented in La Palma Chalatenango in El Salvador. The goal of this assignment is to support the members of Asociacin Cooperativa de Produccin Agropecuaria Cafetalera Divino Salvador ACOPADS with coffee processing equipment guidance.

Training Objectives

  • Understand the importance of coffee production standardization. 
  • Learn the right methods for using their sorting machine. 
  • Know how to use their threshing and grinder machines. 
  • Understand the protocols for roasting coffee with their new equipment. 

Deliverables

  • A quick assessment of current protocols used to process coffee. 
  • Practical guide with steps on how to use their sorting threshing roasting and grinding machines. 
  • A coffee processing protocol to strengthen their production committee. 
  • A Trip Report with SMART Recommendations that will help to improve the host organization business. 
  • An outreach activity. Upon return to the United States the volunteer is asked to share his or her FarmertoFarmer Program experience with their community and networks.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelors or masters degree in Agronomy Agroindustry or related fields 
  • Working knowledge in coffee operation and procedures 
  • Experience growing and processing coffee is desired
  • Creative and innovative and work knowledge in groupwork dynamics 
  • Capacity to transfer knowledge
  • Good communication skills
  • Work experience in cupping coffee


Additional Information :

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL ALSO HAVE THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to be flexible and available for two week volunteer assignments;
  • Desire to promote crosscultural learning and exchanges through technical assistance;
  • Available for virtual communications with Host Organization and Staff;
  • U.S. citizen or resident; and
  • Advanced English language skills in reading writing and speaking.
