Basic Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Product Engineer is a highly experienced and trained representative with extensive knowledge of DI pipe and other piping materials their design manufacture and uses.
- Product Engineer will coordinate with local Sales Rep in response to field product issues. The sales rep will handle the initial notification and jobsite visit and then notify Sales Ops.
- Attend National State and Local code (specification) meetings and conferences with an emphasis on making presentations and providing technical support.
- Be the resource on all McWane Ductile products in support of the sales department for installation and product issues concerning pipe fittings gaskets restrained joint and other specialty products etc.
- Promote the use of ductile iron over alternate materials and imported DI pipe.
- Support the outside sales reps by assisting in lunch and learn programs and other similar customer training programs (e.g. Day of Water). Incorporate other McWane divisions as appropriate.
- Provide new sales hires with technical training via plant experience jobsite visits and classroom instruction.
- Call on city engineers and specifying officials in support of Division Sales Representatives.
- Coordinate travel with the North American (US and Canada) Sales Representatives when making engineering and specification calls so the rep can gain knowledge and experience with that environment.
- Work volume for this position may vary but travel expectations include a willingness and ability to travel an average of 3 to 4 nights per week all weeks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist as needed in Product complaint investigations and lead all major product complaint investigations.
- Assist in Claim negotiating by review all product claims for accuracy and fairness in accordance with Company terms & conditions of sale and provide denials of claim or counter offers as appropriate with support and explanation from review of returned material.
- Participate in development and maintenance of the Sales New Hire Playbook (Training Manual) Talking Points and news article writing for the Quarterly McWane Ductile insight publication.
- Engage in product and specification promotion by participating in training sessions and various trade associations.
- Participate in all Sales technical training programs.
- Provide technical review of all MD Content Marketing collateral (i.e. Blogs Video and Tip Sheets).
Performance/Activity Requirements:
- Plan work schedule at least four weeks in advance when possible and report weekly on all recent activities including Projects Conference Calls Meetings (including Teams calls) Travel plans and other pertinent activity.
- Due to unforeseen circumstances such as field complaints the Product Engineer will occasionally be required to adjust travel plans on short notice.
- Make weekly sales calls including presentations and field investigations as may be required.
- Maintain contact records and activities in Salesforce as appropriate.
- Submit Claim reviews within 1 week of the receipt of a claim.
- Expense reporting should be submitted every two weeks but no less than once per month.
- Provide a minimum of 1 article per year for the McWane Ductile Iron Strong Insights quarterly magazine.
- Conduct Webinar presentations and other staff training as directed (i.e. Advance Product Training new product initiatives and special project reviews).
- Engage in The Challenger Sale program by utilizing the methods and tools associated with this initiative and reporting progress including win/loss reports as appropriate.
Qualifications :
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in an Engineering discipline or a minimum of 10 years experience in DI Pipe manufacturing including at least 5 years in a QC role.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and database usage.
- Knowledge of Water and Wastewater Systems Design Construction and Operations.
- Valid Drivers license
- Must be willing to relocate.
