Job Description
This handson design position is within RESPECs Transportation Market Sector. Our civil engineering intern will work alongside our firms fulltime employees to learn how professional services are provided to our clients. Our experienced staff will provide mentoring and coaching to our interns to allow development of civil engineering skills and knowledge. Interns will get exposed to our clients job sites and Alaskan communities as well as collaborate with our RESPEC multidiscipline team on public and private sector clients. Additional responsibilities include:
- Assist with design work
- Perform calculations and simulations
- Research topics as assigned
- Assist with field inspections
Qualifications :
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Pursuing a bachelors degree in civil engineering
Preferred qualifications include the following:
- Solid time management skills and ability to produce accurate highquality work in an efficient manner
- Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- Interest in designing various kinds of civil engineering features (roads underground utilities site grading paving storm drainage)
- Good working knowledge of fundamental of civil engineering concepts
- Selfmotivated and detailoriented
- Strong problemsolving and math skills
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Experience with reading analyzing and interpreting plan sets
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently
- Team player who strives to provide quality work
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office (e.g. Word Excel)
- Some proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D

Compensation: Salary depends on experience and expertise. Compensation for the role will depend on several factors including a candidates qualifications skills competencies and experience.
