Roles and responsibilities
1. Teaching and Instruction
- Course Design and Delivery: Develop, teach, and review undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral-level courses in physiotherapy, including topics such as musculoskeletal physiotherapy, neurological physiotherapy, rehabilitation, biomechanics, evidence-based practice, and therapeutic techniques.
- Curriculum Development and Improvement: Design, implement, and evaluate curricula to ensure that students are prepared to meet the challenges of modern physiotherapy practice. Regularly update the curriculum based on new research findings, technological advancements, and clinical practices.
- Classroom and Practical Teaching: Deliver lectures, seminars, and tutorials while also leading practical training in clinical settings. Provide hands-on training in physiotherapy techniques, assessments, and rehabilitation protocols.
- Supervision of Clinical Placements: Oversee and guide students during their clinical placements or internships, ensuring they gain experience in a range of settings, such as hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, and sports environments.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Develop and implement assessments to evaluate student progress, such as written exams, practical assessments, presentations, and case studies. Provide constructive feedback to foster student development.
- Student Mentorship: Offer academic and career guidance, helping students develop their clinical skills, research interests, and professional competencies.
2. Research and Scholarship
- Conduct Advanced Research: Lead independent research in physiotherapy, focusing on areas such as rehabilitation techniques, patient outcomes, musculoskeletal or neurological physiotherapy, sports physiotherapy, pain management, or the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions.
- Publish Research: Contribute to the body of knowledge in physiotherapy by publishing research in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals. Present findings at national and international conferences to share innovative ideas with the broader physiotherapy community.
- Secure Research Funding: Apply for research grants from funding agencies, governmental bodies, and private sectors. Develop and lead research projects that explore new methods, practices, or technologies in physiotherapy.
- Supervision of Graduate and Doctoral Research: Supervise and mentor graduate and doctoral students in their research projects. Provide guidance on research design, methodology, and data analysis, ensuring they develop a strong understanding of scientific inquiry.
- Collaboration and Networking: Collaborate with researchers, clinicians, and healthcare professionals in the development and implementation of research projects. Build networks within the academic and healthcare communities to facilitate interdisciplinary research.
Desired candidate profile
- Clinical Expertise: Extensive clinical knowledge in physiotherapy, including experience in musculoskeletal, neurological, or cardiopulmonary physiotherapy. Ability to teach both theoretical and practical aspects of physiotherapy effectively.
- Teaching and Mentoring: Proven ability to teach physiotherapy students at various levels (undergraduate, postgraduate, or doctoral). Skilled in mentoring and advising students and junior faculty.
- Research and Analytical Skills: Strong research background with proficiency in research methodologies, statistical analysis, and data interpretation. Ability to guide students and junior researchers through their research projects.
