Survey Crew Chief
Location: Rochester MI (Hybrid)
Experience Level: Associate
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Job Type: FullTime
About the Role
We are seeking a Survey Crew Chief to lead and manage survey teams in the field. This role requires a detailoriented professional with strong communication skills the ability to read and interpret construction plans and a solid understanding of surveying equipment and technology. The ideal candidate is motivated capable of working in outdoor environments and committed to maintaining accuracy and efficiency in all surveying tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate calibrate and maintain survey equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Lead field survey crews providing clear direction and guidance.
- Read and interpret construction plans to ensure accurate project .
- Maintain and organize survey trucks equipment and materials.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and project requirements.
- Generate ideas for improving workflow efficiency and cost savings.
- Work collaboratively with team members and other departments to complete projects on time.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Survey Crew Chief.
- Strong ability to read interpret and apply construction plans.
- Proficiency in using surveying technology and equipment.
- Comfortable working outdoors and overtime when required.
- Valid drivers license with a clean driving record.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred:
- Experience working with both private and municipal sectors.
- Willingness to travel for projects as needed.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Outdoor work in various weather conditions.
- Standing walking lifting and carrying equipment regularly.
- Using hands to operate tools and controls reaching kneeling or crouching as needed.
- Ability to work overtime and travel when project demands require it.
Interview Process
- Initial phone screening with the recruitment team.
- Phone interview with the Director of Surveying.
- Inperson interview with the Director of Surveying.
