Responsibilities

Instruction

At Walden inclusive teaching is a deliberate practice that recognizes and values the diverse social cultural community identities and lived experiences of all learners. It employs a variety of strategies to fully engage students strengths within learning environments that connect meaningfully to their lives and professional development. Our aim is to ensure that every learner understands that Walden values their inherent worth humanity and dignity. This commitment to inclusive teaching is demonstrated through several key faculty practices:

  • Regular and varied communication with students to foster a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment.
  • The creation of engaging and dynamic learning experiences that promote student learning discussion and growth.
  • Consistent feedback and feedforward to support students academic and professional development providing insights into current performance and guidance for future growth.
  • Individualized instructional support and guidance that demonstrates genuine care and concern for student wellbeing personal and professional growth and the achievement of their goals.
  • Dedication to the mission and vision of Walden University.
  • Accessibility to students through various channels including email phone text office hours and individual appointments.

Scholarship

Walden University recognizes scholarship as essential to effective teaching and the development of scholarpractitioner students. Faculty are encouraged to engage in scholarship aligned with Waldens mission. These activities are coordinated with academic leadership and specific requirements are determined by the program and/or college.

Service

Walden University values service as an integral component of effective teaching and the development of scholarpractitioner students. Faculty members are expected to demonstrate a consistent record of service to the institution and broader community contributing to the advancement of Waldens educational mission. Faculty are encouraged to engage in service activities aligned with this mission benefiting the institution their profession and/or the community. These activities are coordinated with academic leadership with specific requirements determined by the program and/or college.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Faculty adhere to all Walden University faculty expectations as outlined at the time of employment and within the Faculty Handbook.
  • Participation in required virtual and inperson faculty meetings residencies workshops commencement ceremonies and training sessions.
  • Maintenance of a studentfriendly schedule including availability during evenings and weekends.

Required for All Jobs

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications :

Qualifications

  • A doctorate in the relevant field of study or a closely related discipline is required.
  • Candidates who can consider diverse and sometimes conflicting perspectives are preferred.
  • A demonstrated capacity and willingness to provide individualized instructional support and guidance to students is essential.
  • Application materials should clearly demonstrate alignment with Walden Universitys mission and vision.
  • Experience working with doctoral capstone projects focused on problems of practice in the professional work setting is preferred.

Work Experience

  • A minimum of three years of teaching experience is required or a demonstrated capacity and willingness to cultivate a welcoming and inclusive learning environment that fosters student learning discussion and growth.
  • Experience supporting doctoral research committees is required or a demonstrated capacity and willingness to mentor and support a diverse doctoral student population.
  • Experience with distance learning is preferred.
  • Candidates with experience mentoring doctoral students on capstone projects focused on evidencebased decisionmaking are preferred.

Additional Information :

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country the expected compensation rate for this position is as follows:

  • Graduate Course Instruction: $1560 $4080 per Quarter or Semester depending on type of course taught and length of course
  • Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 $2200 per quarter depending on type of course taught and length of course

    Actual pay may be adjusted based on jobrelated factors permitted by law such as type of course taught; experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility. Walden also offers other opportunities for its contributing faculty members such as dissertation/doctoral study committee chair positions research reviewing and dissertation and doctoral study mentoring.
