Job Description
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Lambeth to assist with the appointment of an Accountant / Senior Finance Officer on a 3month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: 299.77 399.00 per Day
Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Accountant / Senior Finance Officer to provide technical financial advice and support across the organization. You will work closely with service managers up to the Director level providing expert financial analysis ensuring compliance with governance frameworks and contributing to major financial projects. This role is an opportunity to lead on financial processes collaborate with external advisors and improve financial systems and reporting. If you are detailoriented proactive and experienced in public sector finance we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities:
- Financial Management & Advice: Provide specialist technical financial advice and reports under s151 of the Local Government Act 1972. Work with internal and external stakeholders to deliver accurate financial data and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
- Systems & Process Management: Oversee the delivery of financial systems and processes across the council including ensuring timely reconciliations. Collaborate with external advisers and contractors and manage procurement processes where necessary.
- Audit & Compliance: Liaise directly with internal and external auditors ensuring compliance with audit requirements. Identify monitor and manage financial risks and governance.
- Strategic Collaboration: Work on crosscouncil transformative projects ensuring financial integrity. Support managers in decisionmaking by providing robust financial analysis and forecasting.
- Leadership & Oversight: Manage up to 16 staff including recruitment performance monitoring and professional development. Deputise for the Group Manager / Operations Manager as required.
Qualifications:
- CCAB qualified or working towards an appropriate equivalent qualification.
- Proven experience working in financial management within a complex multidisciplinary organization.
- Strong technical knowledge of financial regulations public sector finance and accounting standards.
- Experience with financial systems particularly the Mosaic Care Management System Oracle and ECM.

- Ability to manage a large team and deliver results in a fastpaced environment.
