Job Description
- Full time ongoing position based in Welshpool WA.
- Monday Friday 11am 7pm.
- Extra 1.5 superannuation paid on top of National standard rate.
The Asbestos Analyst / Occupational Hygiene Technician role is primarily a laboratory based role however may also include a field work component. Additionally assisting the laboratory function by ensuring all samples are prepared and analysed in a timely manner while assisting with various other laboratory duties to achieve operational customer and quality requirements.
Reporting to the Supervisor this position will be accountable for but not limited to:
- Prepare samples for analysis in accordance with sample/analysis requirements and preparation methods.
- Perform routine analysis validations and project work in an efficient and effective manner.
- Analysis conducted will include respirable fibre counting asbestos identification inhalable and respirable dust (and associated airborne workplace contaminants) and diesel particulate analysis.
- Ensure external and internal clients requirements are met / exceeded.
- Ensure efficient utilisation of laboratory materials.
- Operate calibrate and maintain equipment/instruments as required.
Qualifications :
- Entrylevel position with great opportunity for career advancement.
- Certificate / Diploma in Laboratory Techniques.
- Experience in a commercial laboratory will be an advantage.
- Experience with field work and associated record keeping will be an advantage.
- A proven ability to learn quickly and work under minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to structure thoughts.
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to multitask.
- Excellent technical and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
Previous laboratory experience will be well regarded however extensive training will be provided to the right candidate.
