Job Description

  • Full time ongoing position based in Welshpool WA.
  • Monday Friday 11am 7pm.
  • Extra 1.5 superannuation paid on top of National standard rate.

The Asbestos Analyst / Occupational Hygiene Technician role is primarily a laboratory based role however may also include a field work component. Additionally assisting the laboratory function by ensuring all samples are prepared and analysed in a timely manner while assisting with various other laboratory duties to achieve operational customer and quality requirements. 
Reporting to the Supervisor this position will be accountable for but not limited to: 

  • Prepare samples for analysis in accordance with sample/analysis requirements and preparation methods.
  • Perform routine analysis validations and project work in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Analysis conducted will include respirable fibre counting asbestos identification inhalable and respirable dust (and associated airborne workplace contaminants) and diesel particulate analysis.
  • Ensure external and internal clients requirements are met / exceeded.
  • Ensure efficient utilisation of laboratory materials.
  • Operate calibrate and maintain equipment/instruments as required.

Qualifications :

  • Entrylevel position with great opportunity for career advancement.
  • Certificate / Diploma in Laboratory Techniques.
  • Experience in a commercial laboratory will be an advantage.
  • Experience with field work and associated record keeping will be an advantage.
  • A proven ability to learn quickly and work under minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to structure thoughts. 
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Excellent technical and time management skills. 
  • Strong attention to detail. 
    Previous laboratory experience will be well regarded however extensive training will be provided to the right candidate.
