Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

1. Teaching and Curriculum Delivery

  • Lesson Planning: Develop and plan lessons that meet curriculum guidelines and objectives for different grade levels.
  • Instruction: Teach English language, literature, writing, and other related subjects such as grammar, vocabulary, and spelling.
  • Differentiation: Adapt teaching methods and materials to accommodate different learning styles, abilities, and needs.
  • Assessment: Design, administer, and grade assessments to measure students' progress in reading, writing, and comprehension.
  • Classroom Management: Create a positive, respectful learning environment where students are encouraged to participate and engage in lessons.

2. Student Support and Development

  • Individualized Support: Provide additional support to struggling students and offer enrichment opportunities for advanced students.
  • Encouraging Literacy: Foster a love for reading and writing by encouraging students to explore various literary genres and forms.
  • Providing Feedback: Offer constructive feedback to students on their assignments, helping them to improve their writing, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Communication: Maintain regular communication with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and behavior.

3. Professional Development

  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated on new teaching strategies, educational trends, and literature to enhance teaching effectiveness.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other teachers, school staff, and administrators to ensure an integrated approach to student learning.
  • Participate in Workshops: Attend professional development workshops, conferences, and other events to continually improve teaching practices.

Desired candidate profile


An educational degree, such as Bachelor’s in Education Degree or related field.
A certified teaching qualification such PGCE, QTS with an Induction Certificate or equivalent (the PGCE must be accompanied by a subject relevant Bachelor’s Degree)
Minimum two years of teaching experience (international experience is an advantage but not required)
Exceptional subject knowledge, with extensive experience of teaching the British National Curriculum in every key stage.
A passion for fostering a student-centered learning environment.
A commitment to professional growth and a collaborative approach to teaching.
A proven track record of providing outstanding teaching and learning.
A commitment to actively participate in extracurricular activities after school hours
Behavior and Classroom Culture
Discipline: Set and maintain clear rules and expectations for classroom behavior and create an environment conducive to learning.
Promote Critical Thinking: Encourage students to think critically, analyze texts, and engage in meaningful discussions on literary themes, characters, and writing techniques.
