Ultrasound Technician

Roles and responsibilities

Perform ultrasound and radiographic imaging examinations to a high standard, independently, without always requiring direct supervision.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities

3.1 Perform ultrasonic diagnostic procedures in accordance with accepted protocols as directed by physicians.
3.2 Instruct patients regarding procedures to ensure cooperation and optimum test results.
3.3 Follow prescribed safety standards in operating equipment.
3.4 Maintain ultrasound and vascular lab equipment in appropriate operating condition.
3.5 Maintain examination rooms and work areas. Order and stock all ultrasound and vascular lab supplies.
3.6 Maintain accurate department records, reports and files as directed.
3.7 Document work processes as required.
3.8 Maintain privacy and position patients appropriately for each and every imaging examination.
3.9 Select appropriate radiation exposure factors and utilize any special features of the imaging modalities as deemed necessary for each individual case.
3.10 Ensure that all relevant radiation protection guidelines are complied with.
3.11 Produce high quality diagnostic images, appropriately presented for interpretation by Radiologists.
3.12 Provide patient and family education as per the needs.
3.13 Participate in person-centered care initiatives undertaken by HMG.
3.14 Enrich patient experience with compassion, respect and dignity.
3.15 Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his knowledge, skills and abilities.

Desired candidate profile

1. Education : Diploma
2. Professional : Radiologic Technology/ Ultrasonography

Experience
1. At least Two (2) years of experience in a Hospital Setup.

Professional Licensing / Certification / Training
1. Certification : Relevant Certifications
2. Licensing : Valid registration of MOH & Saudi Council
Patient Preparation and Interaction
Patient Communication: Explain ultrasound procedures to patients and answer any questions they may have to help them feel comfortable.
Positioning the Patient: Position patients on the examination table to ensure the best angle for imaging and ensure the patient’s safety and comfort during the procedure.
Prepare Equipment: Apply a gel to the patient’s skin, which is necessary for the ultrasound waves to travel through the body and provide clear images.
Performing Ultrasound Scans
Operating Ultrasound Equipment: Use ultrasound machines to take images of the inside of the body. This can include imaging the abdomen, heart (echocardiogram), blood vessels, muscles, and other organs.
Techniques and Protocols: Follow established medical protocols and standards to ensure accurate imaging of the organs or areas of interest.
Monitor Equipment: Operate the equipment and adjust settings such as frequency and focus to capture the highest quality images for diagnosis.
Capture High-Quality Images: Ensure that the images captured are clear, complete, and meet the diagnostic needs for the physician.
