Job Description

Are you a passionate and experienced educator dedicated to supporting children with special educational needs We are seeking a SENCO to join our welcoming and inclusive primary school in Herne Bay Kent starting in September 2025. This is a fulltime permanent position offering an exciting opportunity to lead and develop the schools SEND provision in a nurturing and supportive environment.

The leadership team is dedicated to staff development offering ongoing CPD opportunities training and a supportive working culture. Youll be part of a team that prioritises wellbeing and professional growth while ensuring the best outcomes for all pupils.

SENCO Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the schools SEND provision ensuring highquality support for pupils with additional needs.
  • Work closely with teachers support staff and external agencies to develop and implement effective strategies for students with SEND.
  • Oversee the creation and implementation of EHCPs (Education Health and Care Plans) ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Monitor and assess the progress of SEND students implementing targeted interventions where necessary.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on inclusive teaching strategies and best practices.
  • Foster positive relationships with parents and guardians keeping them informed of their childs progress and support strategies.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement wholeschool SEND policies.
  • Stay up to date with changes in SEND legislation and best practices ensuring the school remains compliant and at the forefront of inclusive education.

SENCO Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or willingness to work towards it.
Proven experience working with children with SEND in a primary school setting.
Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and current legislation.
Excellent leadership organisational and communication skills.
A commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive school environment.
Ability to work collaboratively with staff parents and external professionals.
