Job Description:
Key job responsibilities
- A Network Development Engineer is responsible for engineering implementation scalability operations reliability and sustainability of our nextgeneration networks. An NDE will utilize their networking skills along with our advanced tools and systems to invent refine and develop automation and mechanisms to reduce manual operations.
The work will include:
- Participating in network projects in the areas of network sustaining engineering network deployment/implementation network scaling technology refresh best practices application and/or network optimization
- Contributing to our operations function responding to customer impact events and requests troubleshooting and fixing and improving the automation that runs our network
- Analysing the network using tools and metrics to ensure it is operating correctly safely and securely
- Investigating and solves straightforward technical problems assists in fixing them so they dont come back
- Creates updates and improves team level operational metrics monitors and processes.
- Delivering simple straightforward repeatable solutions and processes Learning new and upcoming networking systems and developing ways of safely implementing them into our environment
Candidate Requirements:
- Should have a minimum of 7 years industry experience.
- Excellent IP networking fundamentals and extensive experience in the application of IP protocols.
- Indepth knowledge of and experience with major internet routing protocols; specifically BGP and OSPF
- Indepth knowledge of and experience with major router platforms; specifically with Cisco 37xx 49xx 65xx 73xx 76xx platforms including all compatible supervisory and line cards for these platforms.
- Excellent network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting skills.
- Candidates should also have had significant past experience with and expertise in many of the following protocols & technologies: VLANs/STP IPv4 & IPv6 TCP (internals & flow control) BGP OSPF HSRP/GLBP
