Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sustainability Lead to lead and drive the sustainability agenda at Johnvents Industries focusing on commodities such as Cocoa Cashew Soya and Sesame. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing implementing and managing sustainability initiatives across the organization ensuring compliance with environmental and social standards and achieving green certifications. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong project management skills a deep understanding of sustainability practices and the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve measurable results.
Key Responsibilities
Sustainability Strategy & Implementation
- Build and manage the company s Sustainable Development Agenda aligning with global and local sustainability goals.
- Oversees the annual budgeting and costing for commodities and tracks expenses.
- Develop and implement sustainability projects Analysis of target areas Farmers data handling and on field Work experience.
- Analyze and initiate actions to optimize the management of materials energy water and waste.
- Establish the company s carbon footprint and develop an actionable improvement plan through:
- Internal actions: Building management transportation modes and life cycle analysis.
- External actions: Sourcing local components reducing the carbon footprint of products and services.
- Develop and implement sustainability projects to benefit the supply chain and partner producers.
- Measure and monitor the company s environmental and social performance ensuring continuous improvement.
- Lead efforts to obtain and maintain green certifications (e.g. Rainforest Alliance Organic Fair Trade EUDR).
- Ensure regulatory and legal compliance in sustainability across all operations.
- Supervise field activities related to the certification of agricultural products.
- Monitor the supply of certified products and ensure adherence to certification standards.
- Prepare and publish the company s annual sustainable development report.
Stakeholder Engagement & Training
- Raise awareness of sustainable development issues among internal teams and integrate sustainability objectives companywide.
- Define and organize training programs for internal and external stakeholders on sustainability principles and practices.
- Foster strong relationships with sustainability stakeholders including customers administrations NGOs and local communities.
- Represent the company in negotiations and collaborations with external stakeholders.
Supply Chain & Production Sustainability
- Establish sustainability systems in production areas and ensure compliance with certification standards.
- Support the implementation of quality standards and best practices at the producer group level.
- Implement community support initiatives in production areas to promote social and environmental wellbeing.
- Monitor and report on the environmental and social performance of production areas.
Communication & Reporting
- Ensure effective communication of sustainability actions both internally and externally.
- Prepare procedural and administrative documents related to sustainability initiatives.
- Regularly monitor and report on regulations innovations and best practices in sustainability.
Requirements
- Bachelor s or Master s degree in Environmental Science Sustainability Business Administration or a related field.
- Minimum of 57 years of experience in sustainability management environmental compliance or a related role.
- Proven experience in obtaining and managing green certifications (e.g Rainforest Alliance Organic Fair Trade).
- Strong knowledge of carbon footprint analysis life cycle assessment and sustainable supply chain management.
- Experience working with stakeholders such as NGOs government agencies and local communities.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problemsolving abilities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to train and motivate teams on sustainability practices.
- Proficiency in sustainability reporting and data analysis tools.
