Applications are now open to join our Restructuring group for the 2025/2026 vacationer intake.
Companies in financial distress engage KordaMentha to urgently restructure and stabilise their businesses protecting not only monetary value at risk but also their reputation and social licence and those of their key stakeholders. Our Restructuring group has managed many of the most complex corporate and government restructures in the AsiaPacific region. Our notable projects include appointments over Network Ten Arrium FTX Scotts Refrigerated Logistics Grocon and Ansett Australia and advising Bain on its acquisition of Virgin Airlines. We also support governments to make the challenging strategic decisions that shape our future and help them to solve the most complex and difficult of problems.
Working alongside our Restructuring specialists this is your opportunity to learn how we look beyond the numbers taking bold and creative steps to protect and recover value providing stability and direction in times of crisis. Under expert mentorship gain valuable insights into independent business reviews cash flow monitoring and forecasting restructuring financial and strategic advisory and formal insolvency appointments. Make a real impact as together we solve our clients most pressing transactional and commercial challenges.
What youll be doing
As a vacationer in our restructuring group youll work in creative project teams to manage Australias largest and most complex corporate restructures receiverships administrations and liquidations. While no two days will be the same you can expect to:
- collaborate onsite with a team managing the daily operations of distressed businesses
- handle creditor enquires and engage key stakeholders through the insolvency process
- assist in executing sale transactions for businesses and assets
- conduct financial analysis and prepare reports for lenders regulators and businesses
- develop cash flow forecasts and financial models
- participate in business development and marketing activities
- research new opportunities by analysing financial and market information and reporting findings to Partners
But its not all about work. Youll be given a buddy to help you navigate office life as you settle in. We have regular catch ups with People and Culture to ensure you are getting the most out of your placement. We host regular events and activities bringing together our closeknit team in a friendly and relaxed environment so you can get to know the people behind the professionals.
Qualifications :
You will be a student in your penultimate year of study and will have:
- an accounting or finance degree (completing)
- empathy and integrity
- strong problem solving and negotiating skills
- excellent analytical technical and communication skills
- an ability to think outsidethebox
- strong interpersonal qualities
- a focus on delivering excellent client service
- strong academic results
- some prior work experience
- be available to work for 4 or 8 weeks between June/July 2025 late November 2025 and late January 2026
- eligibility to live and work in Australia (Australian citizens and permanent residents only)
