Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking an Environmental Engineer III to join our Remediation team in Annapolis Junction Maryland. The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the Remediation project team clients site personnel and office management and work both independently and as part of a project team. The individual will be committed to the teams success and growth; will rigorously apply safety policies and procedures; will manage the technical cost and schedule elements of project delivery; and will effectively manage the quality of field efforts and project deliverables within the Remediation Business Line.

The selected candidate for the role will be responsible for executing large and complex engineering projects and provide a comprehensive range of professional planning and design systems engineering and technical assistance program and construction management and operations and maintenance services. The team provides technical skills on projects within the department and will develop strong relationships with the team and clients to enable pursuit of new opportunities.

The job responsibilities for the position will include but are not limited to:

  • Serves as lead engineer on mid to large size projects in the areas of contaminated sediments soil and groundwater remediation environmental compliance regenerative remediation and sustainability.
  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staffs specific area of expertise.
  • Approves and signs off on work.
  • Provides strong technical expertise for studies and design efforts.
  • Presents complex technical solutions to clients.
  • Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others.
  • Participates in development of technical proposals.
  • Provides estimates for the engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements on large projects.
  • Maintain existing client relationships and contracts by successful project delivery.
  • Serve as a technical leader project manager and program manager.
  • Attend client meetings and coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Work with the Program Manager and Senior Practice Leaders to contribute to business growth.
  • Participate in national organizations as appropriate on behalf of AECOM.
  • Lead AECOM client development and design efforts and recruit new talent to build AECOMs team.

Qualifications :

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS in Civil Engineering Environmental Engineering or related field 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Valid U.S Drivers License and as a condition of employment must pass AECOMs Motor Vehicle Records Review
  • As a condition of employment candidates must pass a drug screening
  • As a condition of employment candidates must pass a medical screening
  • Willing to work in a hybrid work environment with office presence for two days a week.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters Degree in Civil Engineering Environmental Engineering or related field 
  • 5 years of experience in Remediation environmental investigations and sites
  • Strong knowledge of progressive engineering and project management 
  • Experience in Environmental Consulting including a combination of Technical BD and managerial experience.
  • Strong technical experience in developing project plans engineering drawings technical specifications cost estimates and schedules.
  • Experience on large scale sediment investigation remediation or restoration projects.
  • Business Development experience
  • Experience as a technical leader on general civil and/or remediation projects.
  • Ability to proactively assist in technical efforts and direct project team staff.
  • Superior communication writing editing and reporting skills for a wide variety of audiences
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and communication both verbal and written skills
  • Experience and confidence to work independently to produce high quality deliverables on time and on budget.
  • Through working knowledge of MidAtlantic States environmental regulations and setting.
