THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTORATE (EXD)

The Executive Directorate (EXD) is the steward of OECD resources on behalf of the SecretaryGeneral. Our focus is on people and their wellbeing; the effective and efficient management of the budget; the safety and security of staff Delegations visitors and of the OECDs data; maintaining and sustaining physical and digital infrastructure; and enabling the convening power of the OECD through conferences meetings and events whether virtual physical or hybrid.  As well as providing corporate services functions and management support to our staff and Members we provide integrated strategic and expert advice on corporate policies and management issues to the SecretaryGeneral to Council and to Standing Committees to which we regularly report on corporate matters. We also provide risk management functions (for management areas under our purview). Ours is a fastpaced environment focused on delivering management excellence across all our functions.

The Conference Security and Infrastructure Service (EXD/CSI)

Within the OECDs Executive Directorate (EXD) the Conference Security and Infrastructure Service (EXD/CSI) is responsible for the conference services language services (interpretation and translation) safety and fire security of OECD staff delegates and visitors and the management and operation of OECD buildings facilities in Paris and at OECD Centres abroad. Within EXD/CSI the Translation Division (EXD/CSI/TRA) translates official OECD documents and publications into the Organisations official languages (French and English) and into other nonofficial languages and conducts other linguistic activities including work on terminology.

THE POSITION

The Translation Division (EXD/CSI/TRA) is looking for a Digital Translation Processes Coordinator to ensure the efficient use of digital translation tools and working methodologies including AIpowered tools and processes. The successful candidate will report to the Digital Translation Processes Manager. S/he will work closely with the Translation Workflow and Resource Management unit the translation teams of the French and English Sections as well as with the Nonofficial Language section.

Job Description

Main Responsibilities

Translation technology monitoring

  • Keep abreast of developments in translationrelated technologies particularly those based on artificial intelligence.
  • Monitor the evolution of digital translation tools. Evaluate new tools with a view to proposing improvements to the translation process. Contribute to the selection and implementation of tools likely to optimise translationrelated processes. 
  • Monitor and analyse existing processes in order to propose an optimised use of translationrelated digital resources.
  • Contribute to the preparation of calls for tenders and market consultations for the renewal or rebuild of digital translation tools.
  • Identify internal and external training opportunities related to the use of digital tools and processes based on artificial intelligence.

Implementation of digital tools

  • Ensure the effective use of ComputerAssisted Translation (CAT) Machine Translation (MT) and any other translation support software implemented in the Translation Division.
  • Advise translators and the Workflow and Resource Management Team on CAT and MT issues. Sharing knowledge with colleagues in the Translation Division on best practice and software functionalities.
  • Contribute to the development of best practices in the management of translation memories and terminology databases.
  • Monitor the documentary and terminological resources available within the Organisation and enable the Division to exploit them using digital tools.
  • Provide technical assistance to translators and the Workflow and Resource Management Team. Liaise with external technical helpdesks and the inhouse IT department (EXD/DKI) as required.

Managing computerassisted translation (CAT) tools

  • Determine the best way to handle complex translation projects using CAT tools; estimate translation costs and effort using complex analyses; help prepare complex documents for computerassisted translation.
  • Create organise and update CAT resources (translation memories terminology databases profiles project templates filters regular expressions etc.). In this role act as an advisor in collaboration with the Digital translation processes manager.
  • Regularly analyse and optimise procedures for using CAT tools.

Managing the machine translation (MT) tool used by the Translation Division

  • Ensure that machine translation is integrated into translation and project management processes.
  • In liaison with the provider of the machine translation engine ensure the smooth running and continuous improvement of the MT system used by EXD/CSI/TRA.
  • Gather feedback from the Translation teams and contribute to postediting training for translators in the French section of EXD/CSI/TRA.

Managing bibliographical references and other documentary resources

  • In collaboration with members of the Workflow and Resource Management Team process bibliographical references and other documentary resources in respect of deadlines and quality requirements.
  • Gather appropriate documentary and terminological data from the relevant departments of the Executive Directorate.
  • Optimise the processing of bibliographical references and other documentary resources by analysing the resources collected before transforming and feeding them into the MT and CAT tools.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Academic Background

  • University degree in translation preferably with a specialisation in translation technologies.

Professional Background

  • At least three years experience in translation. Experience in postediting would be a plus.
  • Experience of terminology research and the processing of bibliographical and other documentary references.
  • Solid experience of managing and/or using translation tools including machine translation engines.
  • Familiarity with managing complex translation projects.
  • Professional experience in a multicultural environment would be an advantage.

Tools

  • Excellent knowledge of Trados Studio MultiTerm and machine translation. Good knowledge of GroupShare would be an asset.
  • Excellent command of the Microsoft Office suite (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook).
  • Good command of collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams Sharepoint etc. or willingness to learn to master them quickly.
  • Keen interest in digital technologies in general and willingness to pursue ongoing training in technological developments including generative artificial intelligence.

Contract Duration
