Job Description
Summary: Locum coverage needed for OB/GYN Department in Santa Cruz CA. The role includes a mix of clinic and hospital call responsibilities laborist role. Primarily lowrisk patients but with access to strong specialist support and a Level III NICU. Bilingual providers strongly preferred.
Rate Caps for Submission:
Malpractice Must be included in rates.
Orientation half the hourly/callback rate kicks in after 8 hours. Per hour of orientation or training beyond 8 hours
Holiday Must be 1.5x the regular rate. Per holiday hour no OT
Hourly BR and below Per hour not OT
Schedule/Availability Requirements:
- 12 clinic days/week
- 24hour inhouse hospital call (6 calls per month 1:6 schedule) 8a8a
- anticipating needing locums coverage for 6 months

Setting: Mix of outpatient clinic and inpatient hospital call.
Duties:
- Outpatient: 1520 patients/day
- Inpatient: Deliveries (4555/month) with 2530% Csection rate (CNMs assist).
Shifts Per Month: 6 call shifts per month 58 clinic shifts per month
Required Procedures:
- Vaginal deliveries
- Csections (assist required)
- Sterilizations birth control laparoscopic tubals (at Santa Cruz Surgery Center).
- No abortions or postpartum tubal ligations (except during Csections).
EMR: Cerner
Support Staff:
- Clinic: Fulltime ultrasonographer with 30 years of experience 1 RN managing diabetic patients and NSTs.
- Hospital: Ultrasonographer and 24/7 anesthesia coverage (10 MDs).
Reason for Coverage: Immediate need for locum assistance to maintain patient care.
Additional information from site and requirements:
- They are looking for OBs with recent laborist experience training rather than mostly Gyn and aesthetics.
- Available to start as soon as credentialed.
- Clinic and call required
- Nonissued files/licenses only
- Recent/current laborist experience(plus clinic experience preferred)
- Local candidates preferred(Greater Bay area)

Preferred Lodging: Preferred hotels
Air Travel: Local preferred but not required

- Pitocin Monitoring: Yes
- Csection Team: Provider must assist.
- NICU Level: III (partnership with Lucile Packard Children s Hospital Stanford).
- Specialist Collaboration: Strong partnerships with Stanford and community perinatologists/neonatologists.
- Patient Demographics: Mostly lowrisk underserved populations. Bilingual providers preferred.
- Trauma Level: TBD.
