Job Description
Job Title: Pathologist Assistant
Facility: Providence Portland Medical Center
Address: 4805 NE Glisan St Portland OR 97213 United States
Contract: 16 weeks (Extension based on performance and facility needs)
Shift: 7:00 AM 3:00 PM (MF)
Pay Rate: $82/hr on W2 $88/hr on 1099
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
The Pathologists Assistant will work under the supervision of a pathologist to perform gross examination and dissection of surgical specimens assist in autopsies and ensure proper specimen handling. The role requires precision attention to detail and adherence to laboratory protocols to support accurate diagnosis and patient care.
Responsibilities:- Perform gross examination and dissection of surgical pathology specimens.
- Assist pathologists in autopsy procedures including evisceration and tissue selection.
- Ensure proper labeling documentation and specimen preservation.
- Photograph and describe specimens for diagnostic and educational purposes.
- Maintain compliance with safety and quality standards in the laboratory.
- Collaborate with pathologists lab personnel and medical staff for efficient workflow.
- Assist in training and supervising laboratory personnel if needed.
- ASCP certification as a Pathologists Assistant (PA).
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical pathology lab.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Compliance with facility health and safety regulations.
