Job Description

We are currently looking for a Lead Structural Engineer to join our team based out of St. Johns Newfoundland. This person should have strong interpersonal skills and experience in structural engineering design/analysis. Project management experience will be considered an asset. This is an opportunity to be part of a newer team with room to grow and participate in multidisciplinary projects and work with professionals that are contributing to the successful growth of their team and business. This is a hybrid position based in the St Johns NL region with  travel to Labrador City NL when required.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of structural engineers for both work management and mentoring
  • Work within a multidisciplinary design team as a Project Engineer reporting to the Project Manager
  • Complete site visits to document existing conditions in both greenfield and brownfield projects
  • Carry out structural detailed design / analysis (related to General Arrangements structural steel concrete etc.)
  • Prepare detailed drawing review and markups for designers/drafters
  • Complete budgetary estimates write proposals technical reports and studies
  • Familiar with structural analysis software (STAAD Pro)
  • Review and approve structural fabrication drawings
  • Participate in formal engineering review processes
  • Complete projects from kickoff through completion of Construction / Commissioning
  • Work on industrial (with focus on mining and hydroelectric facilities) commercial institutional and government projects

 


Qualifications :

  • University Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Registered or able to register as an Engineer with the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland & Labrador (PEGNL)
  • 10 or more years of relevant experience
  • Proven experience in the mining industry an asset
  • Capacity to interact within a multidisciplinary environment
  • Clientfocused keen to understand their problems and recommend solutions
  • Must be willing to travel to remote work sites.  Travel to the Labrador City NL office will be a requirement for this position
  • Entrepreneurial spirit that will contribute to growing client relationships and the business
