Job Description

We are looking for a highly motivated scientist to join our Gastroenterology Disease Area Team in Discovery Research Immunology located in Worcester MA. The ideal candidate should be independently driven highly collaborative and results oriented. They will support in vitro and in vivo research efforts for our existing earlystage through latestage discovery portfolio programs. Responsibilities include conducting analyzing and reporting on in vitro and in vivo assays to explore key biological questions related to IBD diseases such as ulcerative colitis and Crohns disease.  The candidate should be proficient in basic laboratory techniques such as pipetting cell culture flow cytometry qPCR and ELISA.  The ideal candidate should also have handson experience with in vivo PK/PD rodent studies as well as substantial experience culturing and designing functional assays with primary human cells (e.g. proliferation differentiation coculture).

Responsibilities

  • Workload expectations: Member of the team is expected to be onsite 90% of the time with 10% being dedicated to notebooking and study design.
  • Scientific Research: Design and execute precise in vitro and in vivo experiments to advance understanding of IBD related disease biology.
  • Lab Techniques: Skillfully use methods like pipetting cell culture molecular biology ELISA flow cytometry and functional assays (proliferation metabolism and activation) to collect quality data.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze and interpret results accurately creating reports and presentations to share with teams.
  • qPCR: RNA extraction normalization gene data collection and analysis.
  • Protocol Development: Follow and adapt experimental protocols while implementing new methods as needed.
  • Literature Review: Review literature for insights that aid experimental design and contribute ideas.
  • Collaboration: Work with crossdisciplinary teams offering scientific expertise to drive project progress.

Qualifications :

Associate Scientist II Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent education with typically 3 or more years experience or Masters Degree or equivalent education (no additional experience).
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge to carry out the job functions.

Scientist I Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent education with typically 5 years of experience or Masters Degree or equivalent education with typically two years of experience.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge to carry out the job functions.
