Job Description

This position is still at the proposal stage and is awaiting award.

As an instructor for the Department of Nursing a licensed vocational nurse (LVN) is responsible for developing and delivering course content while facilitating handson clinical training for nursing students. They assess student performance provide mentorship and collaborate with colleagues to enhance the nursing programs effectiveness and alignment with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver instructional materials for nursing courses ensuring alignment with curriculum objectives. 
  • Teach and facilitate handson clinical training guiding students in practical nursing skills and patient care practices. 
  • Assess and evaluate student performance through examinations clinical evaluations and feedback sessions. 
  • Provide mentorship and support to nursing students fostering a positive and engaging learning environment.  
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance program effectiveness and student success. 
  • Stay current with advancements in nursing practices and educational methodologies to inform teaching strategies. 
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and participation ensuring compliance with departmental policies. 
  • Participate in program development accreditation processes and continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Engage in professional development and continuing education to maintain licensure and enhance instructional skills.

Qualifications :

Basic Requirements/Certifications:  

  • Must possess and maintain a current active unrestricted LVN license from any U.S. state District of Columbia or U.S. territory.  
  • Must have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. 
  • Additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) are preferred and may be required depending on the clinical setting. 
  • Minimum of one year of LVN experience within the past three years in a relevant clinical specialty. 

Education Required: 

  • Graduate of an accredited school of vocational nursing. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to stand walk lift and bend for extended periods.  
  • May be exposed to contagious diseases radiation and highstress environments. 

Other Special Qualifications: 

  • Must be able to read write and speak English to effectively communicate. 
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required. 
  • Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance. 


Additional Information :

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicants background experience skills internal equity and alignment with geographical market data. 

Compensation Min: $18hr        Max: $50hr
