Job Description

Sales Director at Checkout.com

Reporting into our Head of North America the Sales Director will lead and mentor a team of highperforming sales professionals focused on acquiring and growing midmarket clients across North America. This role requires a proven track record of success in leading sales teams exceeding revenue targets and building strong relationships with key decisionmakers within midmarket organizations. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of the payments landscape and a passion for driving growth in a dynamic environment


How youll make impact:

  • Build mentor and motivate a team of midmarket sales professionals fostering a culture of high performance collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert internally and externally on payments and the wider ecosystem  by working closely with teams across Marketing Partnerships Solutions Engineering Customer Success Operations Product Technology and People to optimize processes roadmaps collaboration and productivity.
  • Work in close partnership with our wider Commercial team to align Marketing and Sales in generating strong leads driving engagement and ultimately closing increased deal volume. 
  • Deliver the necessary structure cadence quality and discipline to create professionalized scalable and worldclass commercial capability. 

Qualifications :

  • Global Commercial Experience: Strong track record of building and leading a commercial team while being part of a larger global commercial organization. Will have managed teams and delivered exceptional results in a bestinclass environment. Will ideally bring deep knowledge and understanding of both payments and enterprise ecosystems.
  • MidMarket Focus: Demonstrated experience selling to and managing relationships with midmarket clients.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Will be an inspiring engaging people leader and communicator able to set a vision and bring people with them. Will have a proven track record in attracting recruiting managing and developing talent as well as running highperforming inclusive commercial teams. Will be able to present a vision and attain buyin from internal and external stakeholders at all levels. Will be highly effective at crossfunctional stakeholder management and a strong and credible contributor to executive team decisionmaking.
  • Commercial Analytical and DataDriven: Will be both experienced and credible in building valuable relationships with senior leaders / decisionmakers in enterprise businesses. Will have a strong sense of financial acumen and analytical skills with a structured problemsolving and datadriven approach to metrics.
  • Growth and ScaleUp Experience: Will have operated in a highgrowth environment and understand what it takes to operate in growth mode sometimes with lean resources and be able to cope with the ambiguity and change associated with a fastpaced preIPO company. Intellectually curious and eager to learn. Passionate about the FinTech and payments sectors. 
  • Strategic and Close to the Detail: Will have a strategic mindset but will also adopt a handson approach and be close to the detail as needed. Will be exceptional at driving prioritization across an increasingly complex and evolving product portfolio. 
  • Payments SME: Will understand Checkout.coms competitive landscape and know what separates a stellar Enterprise payments partner from a mediocre one. Will ideally bring a track record of growing share of wallet and driving incremental revenue growth (i.e. from crosssell/upsell opportunities) as well as net new growth.


Additional Information :

California law requires Checkout.com to include in job postings a reasonable estimated salary range for this position. However exact compensation may vary subject to several factors such as a candidates level relevant experience qualifications skills and proficiency for the role. 

The information provided here is applicable to those working in the San Francisco office. However this role may also be open to applicants from other US locations and will be advised on the relevant pay for that location.

For regular fulltime employees in San Francisco the estimated base salary for this role is $185000 to $215000 per year. Additionally this role is eligible to earn uncapped commission.
