Position Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer PE / PM with expertise in HVAC and plumbing design to join a highly respected engineering firm. This role involves a combination of mechanical system design project management and client engagement across various commercial and institutional projects.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical systems engineering AutoCAD/Revit proficiency and project leadership to oversee diverse MEP projects in industries such as commercial offices education municipal buildings healthcare and multifamily developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial educational healthcare and institutional buildings.
- Generate AutoCAD and Revit construction documents to support MEP engineering projects.
- Perform load calculations equipment sizing and energy modeling using tools like TRACE700 CHVAC7.0 and AIRMaster.
- Manage multiple projects including schedule planning resource allocation and budget tracking.
- Maintain and organize engineering documents and project schedules.
- Conduct field inspections to resolve design conflicts and ensure system compliance.
- Provide technical reviews of mechanical design submittals and oversee project execution.
- Prepare and deliver project status updates to internal teams and clients.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to drive new business development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Masters degree is a plus).
- 6 years of experience in HVAC or plumbing system design and project management.
- Current Professional Engineer (PE) License.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit for mechanical system design.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC modeling tools such as TRACE700 CHVAC7.0 and AIRMaster.
- Experience in mechanical system design for commercial educational healthcare and multifamily projects.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to collaborate with project teams subcontractors and clients.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a consulting or engineering firm.
- Familiarity with energy efficiency and sustainability standards in HVAC and plumbing design.
- Strong problemsolving skills with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
